Hello! My daughter wants to be a vet when she grows up she really loves animals. Make sure you read all you can on every type of animal now as you grown up and get good grades! You will need a lot of years in college to take on this job! Good luck to you! :)

I also thought to become a vet but when I saw them operating the animals i felt like crying..................

I then decided not to be vet as I dont want to see blood and tears of such animals..................

I love them so i cant see them in such conditions...........

You would also be loving pets but i am little different

Vets have very hard, but rewarding jobs. You really have to love animals to enjoy this profession. It is hard work and many years of college. Animals become like a family member and it is hard to tell someone that their pet is sick or is dying.

I agree, vets do work very hard. My sister took her dog into the vet on a Friday and she called them twice a day on the weekend just to check up on their dog. Now that's good bedside manner!!

My name is Shea and I am 10 years old. I really want to be an vetinarian when I grow up. I laove animals. I study animals everyday. In our school library, I look for books that has to do with being a vet. I am going to go to college. And when I or if I become an Vet, I am going to work as hard as I can to help the animals. I know I have a whole life ahead of me to decide but I just want to decide know. My family cheers me on about this and I am proud. I am good with my dogs. i want to be a vet aswell. i'm 11 years old. i guess the first thing you need is to not be squemish. you're probably, in fact you will, see some gross things if you're a vet. i have some pet stick insects and the big noes can be quite scary, but the little ones are cute. of course, it would be really difficult to treat a stick insect because they're small but you've got to be ready to be in cloce contact with anything from puppies to snakes. if you're fine with that you just need to get good graedes and go to college and then you'll be well on your way to being a vet!!!

To go to vet school you need to do very well in not only biology and science, but also physics, chemistry, math and genetics. I recommend that everyone go to a good university and complete an undergraduate degree first. Then with that, be sure to take pre vet courses and then apply to vet school. There are 28 certified schools in the US that can train you. The courses them selves take 4 years and then you do a residency. You will also need to take the GRE to get in.

You will learn a very large range of topics and getting in is similar to getting into Medical school. Tuition will be between 15-30K a year so you will have a large set of loans when you graduate.

Remember to do what you like and work hard towards your dreams. Getting experience starting early is also very important as you will need 3 letters of recommendations. Good luck!

My name is Alexis and I love animals. I know a career like this will take alot of dedication, work, patience, and expierence. I plan to volunteer at the Meadowbrook Animal Hospital near my home and work at the Malibu pet hotel when I get old enough. Animals are natures gift and I believe they should be treated fairly and not be detained. If I don't become a vet I will rescue animals who have been injured or their enviorment has been changed damaged. When I am finished I will open an animal shelter.

Hey guys, I want to be a vet too. I am 22 years old and I have wanted to be a vet since I was 5, nothing else has ever even come close. I have worked as a veterinary assistant in a hospital for the past 4 years and hope to be accepted to UC Davis. You do have to have a love for animals and a pasiion for what you do. but you also have to work very hard. It is very competetive! You have to have excelent grades, extraciricular activites, experience volunteering or working in a vet on average about 3, 000 hours both in your field (like samll animal dogs/cats or large animal horses/sheep) and all others. They want to know that you wont start the program and them change your mind, so i reccomend you get a vet and volunteer fast because its not all fun and kisses. You have to see blood and wounds and things some people cant stomach and some animals are dificult to deal with and thier owners can be worse you have to be compassionate while keeping the best interests of the pet at heart. Its a lot of science and math, you will be doing it until you cant see straight and then once you gt into vet school which about 1/7 of applicants do its a vfery hard 4 year program plus 2 years working under another doctor (callled residency) and then for the rest of your career you have whats called continuing eduction where you go to listen to doctors talk about whats new. I encourage you all to follow your dreams! dont ever let anyone say that just ecause your a kid you will change your mind, i never did. If you have the motivation the rest will come. "If there's a will there's a way" good luck!!!!

Hello, I'm 13 and I want to be a zoo veterinarian when I grow up. I'm currently working on a 5-page report about veterinarians (nearly finished- one more page~). This report's discouraged me a bit with all the disadvantages, but I would still love to be a veterinarian. I love animals alot and I volunteer in the Humane Society all the time. I hope I can reach my dream!

I want to be an exotic vet when I grow up! I'm 12 (as of today!), and I realistically have planned it out. I'm going to become a vet/ blah, blah, blah, and then I'm going to become a vet at the Humane Society (although I really don't want to give lethal injection!). After that, I'm going to become an exotic vet in my house (a house clinic).

I think it is great that you wish to be a veterinarian. Do keep in mind a few things: Not only will you have a wonderful chance to interact with many animals, you must also be prepared to deal with sick animals who need your help. You must have the personality to stay calm in emergency situations and to be able to make clear and logical decisions with authority.

A vet can not be "sqeemish" about blood and other bodily fluids, you will see a lot of that. Abused and neglected aniamls will be brought to you, for you to help them. So, you must have the skills of being able to help while maintaining your calm. Sometimes seeing a neglected dog can make the calmest person SO angry.

You also must be willing to put forth effort in school to earn great grades.

If you can do this, you will make a GREAT vet!

I am going to school to be a vet assistant i have seen pets go under for surgery and be put to sleep when it comes down to it yah its not for some people but you have to stop and think that if they need and kind of surgery its cause they need help the vet knows what they are doing and if they have to be put to sleep they are suffering and in pain and there is no hope left a vet will try everything they can thats a last resot

Being a vet is extremely rewarding and also hard work! If you have the motivation to study a lot, you can do it. A vet is a doctor; this requires the ability to learn all about the atonomy of an animal, diseases and so much more. I think that your goal is a solid and do-able one. Good luck! You know what they say, "If you choose to do something that you enjoy, you will never have to "work" a day in your life!"

I am 14 years old and when I want to be a vet. I love animals I have 6 dogs and always take care of them. I thought I couldn't stand the blood but I know I could handle it.When I go to the vet I go in the back room with them and watch what they do with the animals. I always get books on being a vet. So if you have any information on being a vet please send me some.

i will like to be a vet when i grow up and i want to try to safe all the poor animals out there and try to stop cruelty to animal i will die for any animals that needs help.I love animals really bad they so cute and they need help. i am trying my b est in school for i can get good grade for i can be a vet i really want to try to safe some animals now. I kinda like animal more then people cause they r cool. Please can this world be nicer to animals they have feelings to like us.
