I was going to get two female dwarf hamsters. Do you think that they would get along? or should I get a different kind of hamster or put them in separate cages? Thanks!

It depends on the hamster. Two that are being introduced might fight but if they grew up together they pbobably wont. Some pet stores keep two hamsters in the same cage so it would be best to buy those if you want two.

We have three male robo dwarf hamsters living together very peacefully. I went to Petsmart over a month ago to get one dwarf hamster. I wanted a Russian dwarf because that's what we had before and we loved him. Well, they didn't have any but they had these three robo hamsters. I decided to buy one and then I came home and read up on them (I recommend doing the research BEFORE you buy though!). I read that they are very fast, can be nasty and not very cuddly. I also read that they can live together if raised together so the next day I went back to the store and bought the other two. They get along beautifully. They get very hyper in the morning before going to sleep and they always sleep together. We take them out and play with them in the bathtub. We put a rug in there and let them go because they can't escape. They have become VERY tame. Although they run very fast, when they are in the bathtub, they will climb all over my hand and are held easily. We can pet them and hold them. I think they're great although they would be hard for small children because I would worry that the children would squeeze too tightly to hold onto them. I am very glad I got them and even happier that we took the risk and got all three. They really enjoy each other's company.

I think it would be O.K because my sisters got dwarfs but they do fight together I would recommend you to get Robo dwarfs because they like others dont get two syrians in the same cage or they will kill each other...

Good luck

They should be just fine I have two little female rabo dwarfs of my own. Just be sure they are from the same litter.

I have a question. Should you have 2 robo dwarf hamsters? Cause I have one and I was wondering if that would effect him in any way? When I went to buy one, they had three in the cage. The two loved eachother so I wanted to get them, but I felt bad for the other even though they were getting a new shipment the next day of them. But I didn't want that guy to be left all alone. Can you please write me back. I am trying to study them to make mine happier. So can you please write me back.

Thank You

i would reccomond not because hamsters do fight or kill each other if they arnt raised together thats the case with 2 boys or 2 girls but if you get a boy and a girl they usually have baby hamsters:)

good luck and i hope you find a good hammy to go with Hannah

Well just a couple days ago I got two robo dwarf hamsters, named Nelly and Usher. Little did I know Usher was gonna be suicidal and squish himself under the wheel the next morning. Naturally I took out the wheel, he has one of the cool spaceship lookin wheels at the top so he still gets exersice. But Nelly now spends all of his time in the wheel of the cage sleeping and pouting. I would like to get him another one before he dies of grief lol. So what do I do, do I let him be miserable or should I try to get another one? Usher was in the same litter as Nelly and they were the two who stuck together and the last two left in the cage. I didnt want to leave one all by hiself so I bought both!! Well I need to know if they have to be in the same litter to get along. Of course it will have to be another male but please tell me the answer! Thank you!!

I would suggest to the owner of Nelly and the recently passed Usher...If your Dwarfs are still babies (Under 6 mnths) it should be fine to try to put a mate in with Nelly...But have another cage on hand in case Nelly really is not depressed and now has decided that she likes living alone. They do not need to be from the same litter. Try getting a pup from a related a litter if possible. Hamsters know their relatives. Good luck and hope that helped out

Mary Ann M - Robo's love to have a mate...Since they can not really be handled a lot...Get your Robo a mate or make sure your Robo has a lot to do for stimulation in her cage. The Robo needs a buddy. The regular dwarfs can be fine by themselves as long as they are stimulated with activities and are in a social area of the house like a Kitchen or TV room. But the Robo's like to sleep together, play together and eat together. I learned this the hard way. I had a mother who gave birth to litter #2 and I took all the other hamsters out of her cage which were daughters and the Dad. She became very depressed and ending up killing her second litter..found out I stressed her out by removing all the other care givers from the cage. Robo's kind of break the rules on everything the "experts" tell you. Find her a good buddy again try finding one of her relatives...she should be ok with it (again hamsters know their relatives...doesn't mean they won't breed with them - but they know them...keep them female to female or male to male.) No matter what though...if you decide to try getting a buddy...be prepared to have a second cage on hand just in case or a cage divider to separate. Dividers work really well for introducing them. It won't let them fight and they think they are together so the next time you clean the cage you should be able to remove the divider...if they fight...put in back in. Either way...they will stimulate each other even with the divider in the cage..its a way to fake a roommate if they can't actually get along living togehter.

I have a male Robo and want to pair him with another male I haven't got yet. My Robo's already 5 months, is this a good idea?

I know that most people think you can put 2 hamsters together if they were raised together but that is actually not true!!! My dwarf hamsters had babies and i kept 3 of them in the same cage and they fought really bad and i even found wounds on them so I had to separate them!!! and once i had 2 robos from the same litter that i got at petsmart and they fought too so i separate them! They may seem happy together while they are young, but when they are about 6 months to a year old, thats when they start fighting. Hamsters are way happier and not as stressed out when they are kept alone.
