Robo hamster

Bizzy from Hamster Wheel -

We were at PetSmart on Saturday and were introduced to a Robo hamster. The gal at the store told us that the Robo is very gentle with children. The Robo is so small!

Comment #1 citronkid from bird nation -

Robo as in robotic hamster? I don't really see the appeal. I had a teddy bear hamster as a kid and loved it.

Comment #2 Bizzy from Hamster Wheel -

LOL! No. Robo as in Roborovski Hamster.

I haven't had a teddy bear hamster, although teddy bears are some of the ones I've looked at.

How do you know if robo hamsters are going to have there babies? If so, how long does it take to have there baby?

Does anyone know a breeder in New Jersey, USA or a pet store that carries Robos?

How do you breed Robo Hampsters?

i got a robo dwarf hamster a few months ago and she does not bite shes real sweet but if i put my hand near her she runs away as fast as she can. and if i pick her up she instantly tries to get out of my hand and run away. i dont know what to do? how do i get her like my lil sisters hamster. hers is soo calm w/ her she will just let it out on her bed and it just walks around exploring. it never tries to get away. how do i get mine like that?

Should i take her back and get a syrain hamster. this is my first hamster. she has been really hard to tame and its been atleast 3 months.

I got two Robo Hamsters three days ago and they are so so adorable but completely terrified of my sisters and I. I know it will take a little while for them to get used to us, but how long? Does anyone know how to make them more comfortable with me? What do I do?

to make them like you more just hold them everyday, and just pet him maybe play with him let him roll in his ball for a little in your room or around the house just so he gets used to all his surroundings i just got mine yesterday and hes allready beeing super nice, and letting me hold him and catch him with out running so much

Hi there!

Roborovski hamsters are very cute but very fast also. In fact, from all the hamsters breeds, this one is the most agile.

--

Breeding:

Robos reach sexual maturity at 5 weeks (may vary). Still, they don't mate until they are older. Females should not mate until they are at least 4 months old and males until 3 months old.

Gestation period:20-22 days and litter size:4-6 pups average.

Weaning:21 days.

--

Behavior and acquiring a robo hamster

*They are not recommended as a first hamster because they are quite hard to handle and very fast also. To make sure that the taming won't be problem, buy a younger hamster:5-6 weeks, because it will be easier to tame and handle him.

* They rarely bite, mostly gently nipping .

*More active during the day than the common Syrian hamster.

*Length: 4.5 cm long(smaller than a human thumb)

*Very sociable with each other. In fact, it's best to buy more than one because they will keep each other company.

--

Taming tips:

-handle him as often as you can

-let him smell you

-put some food in your hand and lower your hand in his cage. Be quiet or talk to your hamster very soft and let him to come to you to get the food.

-give him treats

-let him run up and down on your hand, shoulder, tummy

Avoid:

-taking him out of his cage when he sleeps

-food smelling hands:hamsters have poor eyesight so you might end up bitten

-quick moves

Girls, I do hope this helps. If you have any questions, do feel free to contact me.

I h ave one and hes so cute but poops so much what should i do?

We are thinking about getting a robo hamster. We have been doing a lot of reserch on them. They are the smallest hamsters in the hamster family. They are also the fastest hamsters you'll find. But when we walked into Petco and saw some it was just love at first sight. They have that affect on you.

He poops a lot? Ok maybe you are feeding it to much. But really theres nothing you can do. The robo could be sick too. If nothing helps then maybe you should just grit your teeth and bear it. This may not be the most helpful advice but thats really all you can do.

i got a robo hamster a few months ago and i just got a mouse and i want to put them together but i dont know what will happen.

Comment #17 Tyf from United States -

Robo's are not known for being good first time owners. They are harder to tame, and more likely to bite than most other breeds. Plus there alot smaleler, and more fragile.

If anything, I would suggest a bigger hamster, like a Black Bear or Teddy Bear.
