My turtles "nails" are getting too long. I haven't tried to trim them before. How do I do it and what do I do if I trim too closely?

Don't trim them... you are not supposed to!

you should go to the vet and tell them your priblem so your turtle will not hurt him self or hurt his girlfriend.

my snapping turtle bit my painted turtles leg off and now my painted turtle isnt moving around but hes alive.. what should i do?

Comment #6 Vero from The Americas -

Jamil,

For one, you shouldn't have a snapping turtle living with any other pet.

Two. That painted turtle NEEDS IMMEDIATE CARE RIGHT AWAY. BRING HIM TO A VET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. NOT RESPONDING TO THAT TYPE OF INJURY IS ANIMAL CRUELTY AND YOU CAN GET INTO SERIOUS TROUBLE IF YOU DON'T DO IT NOW. THAT TURTLE WILL DIE, PLEASE DO NOT LET HIM SUFFER. I'm sure if you got your leg blown off, you would want to go to the hospital, right? So why wouldn't you know what to do if this turtle leg is gone. Humans or turtles, still animals, and it's still painful and life-threatening.

Comment #7 Gord from West Coast B.C. -

Jamil,

Yes, please get your painted turtle to a reptile Vet. A.S.A.P. !

Snapping turtles can only really be kept with other 'snappers' of the same size.
