'Easter Bunnies'

Do people buy rabbits for their kids at easter time? I remember one year when I was a kid we got real rabbits, I don't think they are that great of pets though. We always got scratched. Their nails are aweful.

Around Easter time all the news stations run big stories on not to buy an Easter bunny for your child just because it's Easter. A lot of the novelty wears off after a couple days and a lot of the bunnies were being abandoned in the desert.

I think this happens a lot for all kinds of differn occasions. I remember when the 101 Dalmations movie came out and everyone wanted a dalmation. Halloween people want black cats. I don't think Easter is an acceptions to this. It is sad to me because people just want them for that particular occasion and then it gets old and the animal suffers the most. Having a pet is a big responsibility. It is a long term committment and should be taken seriously.

Courtney, they reason your rabbits' nail were awful is because you weren't trimming them. You have to trim their nails. Rabbits are pets are a commitment. I think pet stores will NOT sell rabbits and chicks at Easter time now because they're not just cute basket gifts, they're living and breathing beings.

It's true that the sale of Dalmatians went up after the movie. I hope everyone researched the breed and is happy.

Unfortunately, black cats at Halloween isn't because they're cute; it's because they're ritualistic. I used to worry about some sick person stealing my black cats around Halloween.

Hi -

I have 9 rabbits all of them are very nice and love people. My rabbit do not scratch unless startled. I f you keep there nails clipped you will not get scratched. Also I do not agree with rabbits as Easter pets. For the children will get bord and most rabbits die or are set loose and will then Die. Rabbits that are used to peaple and other pets don't make it in the wild.

Last rabbits only act mean when mistreated. If they are cared for right they will be very frendly.
