An experience with an Eagle
Sams from Petzone -
One day when I was going to my office I found a big bird lying injured near my boundary corner. I went close and found an injured Eagle lying there, very suspicious about my movements, but it can't move. It had injured it's wing.Without taking much time I called the helpline for wildlife and animal safety department people. They came withing half an hour. They took the bird with them. I enquired with them later to find out that the bird is better and will be able to fly within few more days.

If you have eagles where you live and you have small pets then I suggest you start making sure that your pets are not out until well after dawn and back in before dusk. I lost 2 cats, one of them 26 pounds, and my neighbor lost a 38 pound dog before we were finally informed that the eagles hunt them at dawn and dusk. And larger owls will hunt them after dark. I was told that a full grown Baldy can carry off up to a 50 pound dog, a full grown red-tail hawk can carry up to 30 pounds easily and most owls can get a 15 pound cat with ease. And all these animals seem to have learned that it's easier to catch our pets than it is to catch a wild animal of the same size.

Howdy! If anyone has any questions about Eagles, hawks, or falcons, I can answer questions.

We have a Yorkie male who weighs approximately 13 pounds. He is not your typical Yorkie as he LOVES to be outside and likes to be dirty...no bows, barrettes or glitz. We have a farm in Ohio on several acres with lots of wildlife. He is often on his lead in front of the house digging around or sunning. We have three other large dogs that are always out with him but he is often alone if they are running the fields...but he is always supervised by someone in the house. Our question: Can a hawk or eagle pick him up and what is the likeliness of that? Are there times to be more aware? My husband is convinced that it will happen and I am now concerned about leaving him outside for one second. Thanks for any information you can give me to ease my worries. Little man would not be happy inside all day. :(
