Raw Food diet

Kimmy from inside my igloo...brrrr -

I have read online that putting your pets on a raw food diet can be the pest thing for your pet. A raw food diet lowers the risk of early aging and there coats just seem to glimmer. What are your thoughts on this?

You can find lots of recommendations of the same type for humans! I guess try it yourself and if you feel good try it on your pets too!

You can find lots of books on how to start and maintain a raw food diet. Your pet will love it. But are you prepared for the cost. It is a lot more expensive to feed your animal raw foods and supplements than pet food.

Yet it would be a lot cheaper for a human to eat a raw food diet than a regular diet.

If you want to make a treat for your cat (and maybe dog) grow some wheat grass for it. Soak whole wheat seeds in water for a few hours. Then start them sprouting by letting them sit (damp) for a day or two, rinsing them twice a day. They will start to show little roots.

Put them in a tray with about 1-2" of dirt. Just lay the seeds on on top. Water them once or twice a day. Make sure there are drain holes in the tray. Cover them for the first day or two (until they are about 1" tall). After that uncover them.

Your cat will love to chew on them and eat it. I wouldn't make the trays too big or your cat might think it is a liter box. After a week they might be 5-8" tall. Once you figure out how long a batch lasts you can make a new tray once a week or so to keep your kitty happy.

Don't expect kitty to keep the grass moved, but he or she will love to chew on it. If you make more than 1 tray (like if you plan to juice it for yourself) your cat will probably have to taste each tray every day!
