'pirranah care'

I just bought my son 2 pirranah's, but I tried to find some info on the next about their care, and to be honest, there isn't much. What temp should the tank be, what special care does these incredible fish need? Any info would greatly be appreciated. God bless!!

Well the person or shop you got them from should be able to tell you how to take care of them. I don't know anything about pirranahs. Are they salt water fish?

I have had Pirranah for almost 7 years now. currently I have tree super red bellies. The tank temp is a little warmer than normal. 80 degrees is a great temp for them. They also like the dark. limit the light in the tank to be on only for a little bit at a time gradually working the time the light is on up. BE VERY SELECTIVE when getting live feeders. Depending on the size of them, if they are babies I would give them deli meat until they get at least 3 times the size of the food you are going to feed them. They like the tank slightly more acidotic then normal. Other than that, they are really great pets. sorry about the spelling

MANY COUNTRIES ARE BANNED TO SELL PIRRANAHS BUT WITH A BIT OF EFFORT SOME AQUARIUMS SHOP WILL TAKE THE RISK IF UYOU PUT AN ODER TO GET THEM ...REMEMBER TO BUY EVEN AMOUNTS LIKE 3 , 5 , 7 OR 9 .....ETC BECAUSE IT BRINGS GOOD LUCK N KEEP IT AT A SOUTHERN PART OF YOUR HOUSE BECAUSE IT BRINGS FORTUNE .....GOOD LUCK

I have a 14 year old pirranah. It is starting to die i think. I have asked the pet store for help and am treating it for ick. But it won't eat and throws up its food and is laying on its side on the bottom of the tank. It has white spots on his bottom and his chin has flesh torn away, what oh what can i do?? this fish was my brothers and he has passed away at age 21. So it is real important for me to keep this fish going can anyone help me fix FLUFFY?????E-mail me

Oh Julie I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother, and I truly get the connection with the fish (14 yrs that has got to be record or something for a pirranah in captive is it not). My heart goes out to you. When I lost my daughter, I found helping others in need very therapeutic and also the love of pets. Then I found a way to honor the loss of my daughter Michaela and pet therapy for children who were sexually abused. Pain is real, so is love. Julie, find a way to bring more love into the world. These beautiful fish, were also a way for me to connect with my growing son. Being a mom is not easy, but it is the most incredible thing that has ever happen to me. Made me a better person.
