Baby rabbits

gwes from OC -

I found a baby rabbit near my house. I suspect that the neighbors cat killed the mother. What should I do to help this rabbit?

Since this happened back in October I do hope that you were able to take care of it. If has not been weened you can buy formula from a pet store. Post an update when you get a chance.

I found a rabbit on my porch and appearently it was domesticated. I brought it in and posted signs, someone must have thrown it out. I decided to keep and take care of it even though I did not really want it. Two weeks later, I have 8 more bunnies; it was pregnuant. Now what do I do? I can't find a shelter to take them, but I have to wait for awhile anyway.

we have baby bunnies! now what? I would like to know if it is ok to move the babies and their mother , they were just born within a few hour time frame ???

Our rabbit had babies 1 1/2 months ago. They were energetic and were weaning from their Mom. They had started eating regular food (hay & rabbit pellets and fresh vegetables) and drinking water. I checked on the rabbits at midnight last night and when I went to leave this morning at 9:45am the baby rabbits were all dead. They were all lined up side by side and their fur was damp. What could have killed these babies in such a short amount of time? Could the Mom have smothered them or could they have died from something they ate even though they ate the same food as the Mom. Please help my children are sad.

I have a female rabbit and she had babies. It is ok to hold them all you want. Just make sure that you leave at least one in her box so that she still knows they are alive. When my dwarf rabbit Clover had babies i held both of them alot to make sure they are going to be nice when they get older.

Cheryl: what may have killed your rabbits was if you feed them greens such as lettuce, this early not including grass can kill them. A baby rabbits digestive system is not strong enough for it. I feel bad for your children.

It is ok to move the nest just make sure that all the babies are together and the mom stays with them the whole time in the process of moving them. If you notice that for some reason she does quit feeding them you should immediately put them back where they were. this rarly happens. GOOD LUCK!!!

If you ever find a baby rabbit at your house and you know for a fact that a animal has gotten into it or then mom was killed you can take them in and care for them. First you will need a box with some warm baby blankets or straw. Let them rest because they may be stressed. Go to your closest pet store and but an eye dropper with kitten formula. This is what i do with my orphaned rabbits. Three times a day you should give them each about 15 cc or just 10 droppers each. when the rabbits get older they can not be released because they do not have the instincts they need anymore they will now depend on you to care for them. If you decide that you dont want them when your done or if you find them and don't want them it would be best to take them to a shelter or to the vet and he or she might have a differnt idea.

Today I saw a bunch of Crows gathering around in a circle and a adult bunny nearby. I was concerned so I ran out there and it turned out that there was a baby bunny they were trying to eat. They flew away and the baby was lying there (not dead.) It was still breathing with under its left cheek was a wound. It was not bleeding hard but it was very red. I brought the bunny into my yard in a towel and set it under a branch. It is lying there right now and I need help with it. How can I care for the wound but not scare it. (By the way, when I picked up the buny in the cloth I saw the mother run.)

Please help ergently!

How come I have not come against any abandoned rabbits before? Is it just a matter of luck? If I spotted a young rabbit that had strayed from a certain home, I would contact the owners to let them know.

I pity the person that came across a bunny but did not know it was not alone. Surely, what do you need to do if you find yourself with young rabbits but have no expertise on rearing them? You follow this link.
