there are a lot of scams like this out on the net, especially on craig's list. you definately have to be careful.

Scam is all over nowadays. If the trend does not change, we are soon going to have scams within scams. I am not so much informed about pet scams. What dimension do they normally take because truth be told, 150, 000 in air fare is really a huge sum. Is it attributed to transacting this kind of business online? I am interested to hear how you escaped the trap

Just be careful with your steps. Scam is almost everywhere nowadays even at your doorstep. You escaped unscathed but I guess it teaches me a lesson too. It is easier adopting a pet near you

I had a look at your website Bryan though I had this notion that it would shade more light about scam. However, it does not. Looks more like a pet rescue organization. I hope I am right

The fact that scams are everywhere makes us very conscious mostly about everything. But before we tagged those websites and the likes, we must first check if it is really a fraud one.

And i have to agree with what cwemoy had said. I think it would be much better if you go adopt a pet near your place. That way you can go visit the shop and pick the best.

Going online is as dangerous as going out on a dangerous alley, you will never know what will happen to you. If you are careful you won't go that dark suspicious alley, but if you have no choice and the only road to where you are going to lies beyond the alley then you should at least equip yourself with the right knowledge of self defense or any form of self-defense instruments.

"Forget the Names and Emails"

Pay attention to the details of the transaction. These are red flags for scams:

1) You don't see the pet before you pay for you.

2) The pet is going to be shipped to you.

3) You use a payment form with no possibility of refunds

4) You are paying by Western Union, More, Money Gram, etc

5) The person is using religion as part of the sales pitch

6) The person selling or the pet is outside the USA (even if they say they are in the USA).

Really, if you are not going to pick up your new pet in person, even if you are not being scammed (you probably are) you are an idiot.

Thanks for sharing those useful harsh truth regarding pet adaption scams. Next time that i encounter those enumerated red alerts, i will have to think twice before engaging in.

I suggest that you guys try the pet stores near your place where you can personally choose the pet of your preference. Looking straight to the eye of the animals can help you decide which one to pick up and adapt.

I was slammed with so many scams in my e-mail, I think I need scam stopper, instead of spam blocker.
