Where would i go to adopt a kangaroo.
I think you need to be looking for African Safari companies that are for sale.
In most places this would be considered an exotic pet and typically have a lot of regulations against it in your community. If you really want to drag a kangaroo from it's natural habitat, please check with your local county to find out whether it's allowed and then get soe good hands on care tips from a zookeeper.
I wouldnt imagine it would be allowed. You would need to be a zoo i would assume. Interesting questions about the exotic animals people want. We should start a post on the regulations of certain animals.
Comment #4 Courtney (1) from The South -
You can have exotic animals where I live, but you have to be outside of the city limits. We have a homeowner that has cheetahs, lions, baby cubs. And many more that I can't think of off the top of my head. He has had animals for many years.
Comment #5 Jeanette from AZ -
We live in a large city and I don't believe you are allowed to have exotic animals in your home. I could be wrong, though, but have never known anyone to have any.
Comment #6 The Wizard from Somewhere over the rainbow -
Many years ago, the Police came and told my Mom her chickens had to go... and I think she got a fine too.
Comment #7 Jeanette from AZ -
We did have a gentleman in our town who had a couple chickens in his backyard and the city told him that he could not have them.

My nephew adopted a giraffe. My sister does theme birthday parties for her children and instead of gifts asks for donations for the theme. I don't remember what the theme was the year of the giraffe, but the donations went to adopt a giraffe at the Los Angeles zoo.

you cant even have them as pets in australia as they are native, and your not allowed to export them aswel due to the fact that they are native. but considering that there are some 17 millian of them in aus, if you get a property big enough your more than likly to have them on it. although they are a shy animal.

Having a pet kangeroo would be EXTREMELY dangerous and cruel. Animal control would immediantly tak the kangeroo from you if they found out. Kangeroo's are wild, don't disturb them.

I had a baby kangaroo, it was very loving and compassionate. I loved my kangaroo with all my heart. It was unfortunate that had I to move from NYC to Nebraska to care for it because NYC would not allow me to have it in city limits. When we got to Nebraska Charlie (The Roo) was complaining of chronic vowel movements. A couple days later Charlie was hit by a local school bus. The bus driver was of Australlian Descent and arranged a funeral. Charlie however was such a beast he killed 3 kids after flying through the wind shield. Good Luck with all your blogs. Sincerely, Mike

Hello, Kangaroo's make wonderful pets.......They must be bought at about 7 month old......and raised in a pouch for at least 3-5 months on a bottle.........as you would create a bond betweem you and the roo........... There are several types of kangaroo's.. The Bennett Wallaby is one of the best ones to have...they mature about 3 ft tall. Also the Wallagroos are a great pet maturing about 4 ft. In some area they do require permits, other not........ You will need a large pen or a large back yard. Good Luck.........b2

I've got kangaroos in me attic. Hundreds of the things! They run all over my house all day and night and the really ugly ones have extra legs and things. I'm sick of it. It seems like morning noon and night, all I get is these Chimpanzees scurrying past me. And they aint half noisy....oh yes, nobody tells you about that running around slapping their webbed feet of the floor tiles and their tusks on the walls. The mating season is the worst part though. It usually starts around 2.30pm and lasts for eighty four and a half minutes. Banging away and thumping their massive horns together and urinating on each other. Needless to say you can come round here and collect as many of the little Japanese buggas as you'd like. Give me some pease and quiet. I never liked duck billed plattypusses and they wont leave me alone either. Angoran ones. I only shear them once every five years when you can tell they really can't breath and they're not joking any more.

Any one that is a responsible owner can own any kind of animal allowed in the aria you live. You must do indepth research about the animal, its natural habitat, diet, health, and other relivant information. You must make sure you can care for its every need resposibly and consistantly. You must be able to provide enouph space and proper living conditions. one of the most important is the time to interact with it and the posible reprocussions of interacting with it. If you can handle those things than you can absolutly have any pet you deem worthy of your time love and affection Only own what you can handle and you will have a happy pet. Any one that does not understand that people can own pets, and they can be happy and healthy pets, should re evaluate what they have been believing.

in response to previous posts #1. I think you need to be looking for African Safari companies that are for sale. I think rather than an African safari, look for adoption sites for orphaned Roo's. P.S. Roo's don't come from Africa they come from Australia. #10. Having a pet kangaroo would be EXTREMELY dangerous and cruel. Animal control would immediately tak the kangeroo from you if they found out. Kangeroo's are wild, don't disturb them. This person is not from this world- or shouldn't be allowed back in, anyway. Having a kangaroo is not that dangerous, though they do like to punch and can hurt. It's like any thing else there are always some risks involved. House pets generally are more happy as long as basic needs are meat. You will know if you have an unhappy pet, and you will also know when you have a happy pet. It has been proven many times over that, a well cared for pet no matter what species they are, will be happier, and live a much longer life than one in the wild. No that does not mean that we should all run out and get pets. It also does not mean that they are, or should be domestically bread and tamed. Animal Control will only act in a situation that warrants them to act. Responsible owners will never have to worry about that. Unless they live near this guy. They may take it to shut him up, or they may just take him :B Some stupid people cannot grasp such a simple concept they are either on one stupid side or the other. Stupid Type 1. No one should own pets it is cruel - no not really, and in some cases, like adoption, those animals usually cannot be released back into the wild because they will not survive, they will starve, or be killed. (But I suppose that's a better alternative hmm?) Millions of animals some from the wild and some from type 2 are put down each year I suppose that is better than giving them to a well cared for and loving environment, don't answer just go back and get more drugs you will need them to make it through life. Stupid type 2. Cannot take care of a pet due to having no clue to begin with. Did not do research before acquiring such a pet, and now cannot or does not want to take care of the animal. we see this in Dog owners all the time. Training Dogs is essential for a healthy, well cared for, and SAFE life for a dog, so on and so forth. Punish bad owners, don't punish the pet. #15. You are an idiot if you adopt a kangaroo and are not, nor have you ever been a zoo Very emotional, Not very intelligent You are only an idiot if you go into it unprepared. KNOW WHAT YOUR GETTING INTO, then if you can handle it properly, and responsibly go for it. Pay no attention to the person with a very small mind.

it would be so crule to have a kangaroo as a pet, expecially in nyc and being responcible for it being hit by a bus and killing another children. i'm not sure if your serious or not but your a horrible human being. let the wild life be wild. keeping a wild pet as your own and locked up inside your house or backyard is wrong. they need to be in their own limits with their own kind. people don't live in the wild with other animals so why should a wild animal do the same just because we believe their cute? GET REAL PEOPLE!!!!

Just thought I would drop a line in here for the nimrods who seem to like to run off at the mouth without knowledge in any form whatsoever. Kangaroos make great pets. Always have, always will. They are more acceptable to a new environment than a dog or a cat. They can be trained in exactly the same way you would with any other animal that you call a pet. All they need is space and affection. Raised with love and care, and these blokes will sit on the couch and watch TV with you. They can be formiddable gaurd animals and are very loyal. Anyone who sprouts the sort of snot that says, its cruel and you have to own a zoo, or anything else that undeucated people here seem to dribble, needs to actually do some homework. It's dissapointing to see that some people know so little about Australia and its marsupials or monotremes, but like to see their crap sprawled all over a message board. Before anyone decides to purchase a pet, exotic or not, they need to do homework. I was pleased to see that we do have people on this board with common sense. Kangaroos are about the most adaptable animal in Australia, and can survive damn near anything. If you want a pet, then this would be one that a lot of people would reccomend. My knowledge comes from living in the outback of Australia for most of my life, and now residing here in the US. Before I open my mouth, and try and make myself look good by calling others idiots. I do my homework lol. The Aussie.
