My 5 year old iguana is becoming increasingly aggressive how would i deal with this?

Is your iguana a male or female? Is that the only one you have? There are many reasons why it may become aggressive. Males once matured can and mostly like will become aggressive to males of the same species. They may also become aggressive with you if they see you as rival.

iguanas are nice pets, but they are still what they are (wild animals). By nature their instinct is to protect itself, at times during the day they may be more prone to acting aggressively. Most of the time they just go through stages were they may do it for a while. And some just get mean by nature. Just about all tame iggies are nice when they are juvenile but become more territorial or aggresive as they get older. Watch the lizards body language as to not get yourself bitten but try handling it more often and allowing the dogs to be nearby while you are doing it. This will hopefully build the trust back that was once there between the animals. hope this helps you out.

my dog is an idiot. i hate him.

Sara, let your dog not hear you out plus you are making me hate him too..treat him well first.

Physical aggression in iguanas usually manifests in biting or tail wiping. I could say they tend to connect to their wild instincts. Enough caution should be taken when domesticating exotic pests.

If handled well, these lizards can be the most wonderful of pets. They tend to be more aggressive during the breeding season.
