i have a red devil cichlid he is about 4 years old. he has been acting fine until this last few days. he keeps hinding on his side under the driftwood. he almost looks dead except when i approach the tank he quickly swims off. his color still looks good and he is still interested in eating. what could be causing this behavior?

i have a ten gallon tank that i use to hold my feeder minnows, the other day i bought a couple of gold fish just to make my tank look busy since it is so big, today i have eggs all over the bottom of my tank, i dont have plants in it just a filter and a few rocks, i have read that i should remove the male and female from the tank so they dont eat the eggs, after the male fertilizes the eggs, how do i know if he fertilized the eggs and how do i know which is male of female and is it ok to leave the minnows in the tank

We bought a black molly and placostamus for our son today. Now we have 6 black mollys. We know nothing about these fish. We thought that they are fresh water (per the sales person) but now see they prefer brackish water. The question is, do placastamus prefer brackish water too?

My friend and I received a 55 gallon aquarium which we have turned into our "summer project." At this point, we have it set up as a freshwater aquarium with some live plants and just fish we have been able to catch at local ponds (though our goal is to catch something a little more interesting later on) However, the problem we are currently facing is that we have been rifling through feeder fish. Seeing as we have about 6 fish in the tank that eat the feeder fish, and not so much the plants, we were looking for a more practical way to obtain them. We are just wondering if there is anyway we could breed them ourselves, and which type to breed. Please help! These back and forth trips are getting obnoxious!

I have had a 10 gallon tank for a few months and my first fish died. I noticed it in the morning but when I came back around dinner it had white fuzz on it. Is this natural when a fish dies or do I have a fungus in my tank?

P.S. the fish is a cardinal tetra

hi me and my partner bought some fish we had 4 guppies, 2 male, 2 female, 4 tetra not sure which type, 4 platties, 2 male, 2 female and 2 sucking fish not sure which breed.

3 of our guppies died and 2 of the platties.

now we know that both the guppies and the platties are livebearers but for some reason we have eggs in our filter and are not quite sure if they came from the sucking fish or the tetra.

how do we keep the eggs save?

Hi I have A Plescotomorus A.K.A an algae eater. And he's in good health, but he his skin has been turning white at one time, then his skin turns black again, so is this normal or is it a disease?

I have a tank with a mother longtail with 6 babies, now there's 5.The babies are really big now they share a tank with Plescostomorus and I know that plescostomorus eat algae, but do they eat fish?Well I think that the 6th baby may have jumped out of the tank or the plescostomorus might have eaten it or the filter sucked the baby and killed it, but we checked around the area of the tank if the baby jumped out of it, we checked the filter but it didn't have any dead fish body, maybe the plescostomorus ate it so are plescostomorus fish eaters?
