I think these fish are the cutest I have ever seen. I love their bright colors and they don't get the tank as dirty as a goldfish does. Plus I love the way they swim so fast, but it is really hard to catch them when you need to clean the tank.

I don't catch mine , I just drain the tank till there is 1 " of water left and then refill with water I have set aside to make sure it was safe for them. Have you noticed that when they are "asleep" they lose their colors and brighten back up when the become active again?

WOW both of u stop!!! dont take that much water out only 25% at a time once a month then replace it with decolrindated water. also if u like neons try Carndinals they got even better color and when it comes to how to take waterout try going to a petshop and ask them its a gravel-vac it cleans the gravel and takes water out at the same time best for a tank

I have a question. I just bought about 5 tetras and a few other kinds of fish. Anyways all the tetras seem to do is swim back and forth along the back wall of the aquarium. Is that normal?

No. Neons tend to form a loose school. I've noticed that if your water conditions are not right, they'll rub themselves on anything in the tank.

In your case Mario, it's probably a water issue. I suggest either more frequent cleaning of your gravel, or try to get some plants in there. I find that plants tend to stabilize the water quality. Try an amazon sword, or either java fern or java moss.

my granddaughter says that tetras lay eggs. I say they have live babies. Which is correct?

I've always wanted a tetra fish. They are so pretty with thier bright neon colors. They are so cute. I'm not real sure how much they are though. I also wanted to know what kind of fish go good with the tetras. I would really like to get a nice big fish tank with lots of colorful fish but i'm not sure how to do it. Is there anything special they like or need?
