FEEDING TROPICALS WHILE ON VACATION

We will be going away for the months of August and September. The tank is fresh water and holds 46 gallons with 14 small tropical tetras. The PH is 7.0 with no amonia problem. Does anyone know a way to feed the fish for 2 months without anyone coming to our house? Do any of you have experience with automatic fish feeders? Can they be used effectively for 2 months? Do they work reliably?

Last summer we used feeding blocks impregnated with food; when we returned after 6 weeks the tank was a total mess from uneaten food, dirt and algae. We lost 3 fish. I am confident using a double bio bag Whisper system for filtration and we have a reliable Rena air pump. The concern is feeding. Would appreciate any suggestions that any of you may have.

PS If it is necessary for someone to come to our house how oftern would you suggest?

Hello, 2 months is a long time.. so I would have somebody come to feed the fish for you. Believe it or not they can go up to 2 weeks without food!! A lot of people dont believe it buts its true.. I would have somebody come once a week to feed them.
