I've had a ferret for about a month...he's 3 months old, he's been acting a little sluggish...I'm not sure if this is reason to worry or not....but I wanted to see what people thought...if this was common in their ferrets...

Is he eating drinking peeing and pooing regular..if not seek medical attention, , a large loss of hair around the tail ia also a sign thata vet visit is critically needed, however he sounds a bit young for adrenal disease Ferrets can become bored even depressed do to lack of activity or being in his cage for exstended periods..be careful though , , their curiosity can get them in trouble so always be around when their out, , be wary of washing machines dryers Refrigerators or anything with machinery or moving parts they also are known to swallow things that can obstruct their digestive track in the end, , take him for peace of mind to the vet and explain your concerns..you should take him at least once a year

I agree with Kenneth. Check his poops, is there anything there? Is it green? Does it look like birdseed? Both are signs that food is not being digested completely and that it may be passing through his system too fast.Is he actively playing? Does he come out of his cage, sniff a little, and go back inside to sleep? Vet visit is necessary! Is he not pooping? There could be a blockage. Vet trip is vital then! Either way, go to a ferret vet! Tell him whats happening, if no poops, possibly suggest an xray to check him out. Also, if there is funny color/texture to his poops, put in a baggy, a good variety of poops, squash them together, and take that in for a fecal exam. He could have parasites or bad bacteria.

You should also def take him in once a year for his distemper shots and rabies shots. Those are mandatory for safety.
