Ferret Proofing your home?

Apparently we are getting a ferret to add to the array of pets I already have. I know the basic stuff that I am going to need but is there something special that I need to do for the house. Are the potted plants ok? Are they known to chew on stuff like furniture?

Are you planning on letting the weasel run loose in your house? You will be keeping it in its cage unless you're with it, right?

I knew someone with a ferret once and I just didn't like the thing. It was a long time ago so I might feel different now, but I don't know.

Yes it will have a cage but I don't want to have keep it locked up 24 hours a day. I think it should be able to get a little time out of lock down for good behavior. LOL

You should def let your ferret out at least 3-4 hours a day! Yes they get into everything, just watch them! But they also provide lots of entertainment for ya!

They will dig in your potted plants, I know, my guy ripped apart some potted plants, and they weren't mine! Keep them out of his reach. I don't know of any ferrets who like to chew furniture. If it becomes a problem though, provide something safe to chew and he might forget about your furniture. If you try Foamy Fries, they are treats plus flavored.
