I own a ten foot python and he got bit by a rat i think it may be getting infected should i take him to the vet

If it's just starting to get infected then use betadine on it. DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide, one - it's not the best for a snake and two - it hurts and it'll really tick him off. It's the dastest way to get bit.
Betadine is what my breeder and several vets have recommended for my snake. She got too close to a heat lamp and burned through her skin into the meat and betadine was what the vet said. If the wound is oozing a lot then you will have to take it to a vet because the infection can spread through the bloodstream and into the brain and kill the snake.

iodine helps but ive workd w/ snakes try frozen rats sometimes
