Jakalope is a Canadian industrial/pop group. They are named for the fictional animal of the same name, although the animal's name is more commonly spelled jackalope. The band was formed in 2003 by noted Canadian industrial musician and producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie most famous for his studio work with such acts as Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy, David Bowie, and Nine Inch Nails.

A jackolope, the animal, is a mythical creature. it's a horned rabbit. jakalope is a a banned. I hightly doubt you have a banned, or a mythical creature in your back yard..

There are allot of people who have claimed to see a jackalope.

However, it turns out that there is an illness (sorry, i can't remember the name of it) that causes rabbits to sprout horn-like growths.

These horn like growths can grow from many different places of a rabbits head, which can cause the rabbit to die from starvation.

This is a probable reason why you have seen a 'jackalope' in your backyard.

I SAW MANY YESTERDAY MANY HEADS OF JACKALOPE IN A SHOPPING IN MAMMOTH LAKE. IT IS A REAL ANIMAL THAT LIVES IN WEST UNITED STATES. FIRST I DON'T BELEVED IN THIS ANIMAL, BUT NOW I KNOW THAT IS A HIBRID OF ANTELOPE AND JACK RABBIT. THE BODY IS SIMILAR TO THE ANTELOPE AND THE HEAD IS A HEAD IS OF RABBIT. IS POSSIBLE THAT YOU HAVE A JACKALOPE IN YOUR BACK YARD.

THERE ARE MANY JACKALOPES IN COLORADO, WI, GERMANY AND OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, THEY HAVE DIFFERENTS NAMES.I THINK THAT THE PRINCIPAL DEPREDATOR OF THIS RABBITS ARE THE HUMANS, I DO KNOW IF TODAY YOU CAN FIND ONE, BECAUSE IT IS AN ENDANGERED ANIMAL.MANY SCIENTIFICS SAYS THAT THE HORNS ARE A MUTATION OR GENETIC PROBLEM, BUT I SEE MANY OF JACKALOPE THIS MORNING. THE NAME OF THE SHOP IS MINNNETONKA MOCCASINS.I HAVE PICTURES OF THE JACKALOPE, ONLY THE HEADS. ALICIA.

Why would you want to catch a Jackalope? Perhaps what you are seeing is a kangaroo??? It is not suggested to try and capture a wild animal, you and the animal may get injured in that attempt.

The best way to catch a jackaloupe is to tap on a cake tin while singing bluegrass to the banjo.

It's best to detail events such as carrots, the desert, and a redheaded lover that got away.

Being a native of the Western United States, I can unequivocally say that there has not, is not and never has been any real creature called a Jackalope. This is an old, old Western myth that has been told to children and naive tourists. What Alicia saw at the shop in Mammoth Lake was nothing more then a taxidermist's prank. You can purchase these mounted "joke" jackalope heads at a number of places. Further, if you bother to think about it, it would seem impossible for two such different creatures to every engage in successful cross species mating with out the intervention of human beings. Please do not try and say that this means the jackalope is some secret government experiment gone wrong. It is only a myth and when people believe in a myth strong enough, they tend to trick themselves into seeing what they want to see and not what they really are seeing.

Years ago I got a postcard in Cody WY that had a picture of a jackolope and it said they are attracted to liquor, so I suggest you get a lawn chair and a bottle of rum and sit and the back yard and drink till it comes up to you, when it does pour some rum in a bowl, and after it drinks the rum it will become playful and you can have a great time. This will work in any area, you don't have to live in the west. You may also attract unicorns, dragon, trolls, talking beavers. There is no end to what can be produced by this method. However, headache is a possible side effect. Happy hunting.

"Can anyone tell me where to find a Jackalope"

If you can tell me where to find a jackalope in colorado please do. I have never seen one and wonder if they exist.

"Jackalopes are real!"

I live in Western North Carolina and have seen Jackalopes from a distance. They look very similar to a large rabbit, but have two horn like or knob like growths on top of their head. The knobs do not really resemble deer or antelope antlers. As far as I know, the Jackalope is actually a species of rabbit. I did not know that the existence of the Jackalope was such a debate. I see one at least once a year. I will keep my camera with me and take a picture of the next one I see.
