Hi, this is not my website, but I thought you'd like to know that Helen's Little Critters raises Lemurs among other exotics. Very spend-y though.

Check out her site.

It would have been easier posting the website Miller..no harm though, if the original poster is keen, he will still get a hand on that.

Lemurs are said to only be found naturally in Madagascar. The separation of Madagascar from the African continent has helped the lemurs become safe from competition besides evolving into many species. About 63 species have been identified so far though they still remain endangered.

Aww I love lemours. If you get one, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEASE don't get oen just because they're cool. Learn about the species until you have lemours jumping out of your ears! And take super good care of it. And don't reduce it to a pet, let it have some freedom.

Gonzo, you seem to know a lot about these animals. Having them as pets does not necessarily mean you do not grant any breathing space at all, does it?

The lemurs, have a threat of survival given that large-scale deforestation for the purposes of agriculture and timber production. They are also being hunted down for food.

Madagascar is not really putting in place mechanisms to guard their natural habitat.

Well- I didn't imply ALL pet owners were like that... And I'm not a lemour expert(or know all about them), I just know quite a bit about them.

Lemurs are simply awesome creatures. I love to look at them and to simply just gaze upon the brilliant spectacle that is, the lemur.

well, i would not try to adopt a lemur as a pet.

Here are some good information about lemurs

Lemurs are a special group of primates found only on Madagascar and the Comoro Islands. There are 50 species of lemurs and 17 are on the endangered species list.

Lemurs are prosimians, or primative primates. They are social animals with long limbs, flexible toes and fingers, and long noses.

"Lemurs need to be bought in state."

I know people with them but Lemurs can not cross state lines so you need to find a breeder in your state and in most cases there isn't one.

This is some really sucky news Tippy, but you really gave us the tip right there. Great information, nonetheless. I did not know that lemurs has so many species though. Fifty is most definitely a whole lot of lemur.

Hi there Geraf. I thought you are going to post some sort of a links and yet we did not found any. I just hope that you can come back here so you can post the link that you are talking about. Well anyway, I think I would want to have a ring tailed lemur in the future, maybe I can buy one if I happen to find time. Thanks.

I do not believe that lemurs will be good as pets and just like what I have read from your statements and read in some websites, lemurs are considered as an endangered species. Rather than disturbing and depriving these primates of their natural habitat and way of living why not just support global organizations to locally bread and protect these animals from poachers. I hope various recognize organizations looks into extending their influence to protect such creatures because the local government doesn't seem to initiate an action to protect them.
