My giraffe just got shipped to my zoo and we need to know what would be the best thing to feed it.

Why did you get it if you don't even know what to feed it?!

leaves carrots and stuff like that if you want to now search

www.google.com or www.google.ca plus at what zoo do you work

Your stupid and a lier. You dont have a zoo, or a griaffe. A zoo would know what to feed them and care for them. I worked with griaffes at the sacramento zoo, they never wonder what to feed them.

Adeline... what does your message have to do with Griaffes?

Comment #6 fisherpindragon (216.232.0.205) -

I have made it my lifelong ambition to own a giraffe someday, ^^ either that or I'll become a veternarian at a Zoo.

You can get giraffe food from all leading pet stores. Make sure your giraffe can feed it's self when it's young or you wont be able to reach it's mouth.

P.S. if you dont already have one, get an extra long leash or your giraffe will escape as they quite often do.

P.P.S. If your giraffe has escaped, try looking in the nearest park as they are quite fond of trees.

wiseacre after reading your excellent advice on giraffe management. i have taken to feeding my giraffe with ease. as you said i have taken steps in being able to feed my giraffe as it is more a mature beast . by buying some free standing step ladders and a fish keep net this seems to have solved the age old problem out of reach.

i have yet to find a pet store with giraffe feed so ask you is it possibel to use squirrel feed as they seem to love trees. there was one more problem that i was faced with but i also overcome this . i could not leave my giraffe unatended whilst i was looking for its feed. so i have bought a saab estate car with a sun roof the giraffe seems to enjoy this lots. beware of low bridges if you have a not so clever animal . as mine sutained head injurys . problem solved.

Hi my friend. I have a giraffe at home too. They are nice like pets for the children. I give to eat carrots, lechuces.

My home is in the middle of the peruvian forest, so the giraffe its all the day , what ever she found in the trees.

how often do you feed a giraffe (i don't have one, just curious)

Giraffes eat actually browse all day but the best is to feed them two times yams carrots or hay but put it up high it enourages its natural behavior. put it in a hay bag and suspend it from a pole. keep it guessing though you dont want it to get bored. but giraffes like apples, bananas (no need to peel) no citrus fruits though, lettuce really has no nutritional value so only use it as a treat, watermelons cucumbers and other juicy veggies. but they tend to favor sweet things like every other living creature.

I'm planning on moving to Canada from the UK in the next 5 years and wondered if anybody knows what legal requirements would you need to have in place to keep giraffes in Canada?

Over here you need a zoo & DWA licence, plus public liabilty insurance.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an agency website that would deal with this please?

where would we purchase a camel for our student house?

ps - our giraffe just escaped...it's not in the park!! but we have spotted a very tall rabbit. do giraffe's disguise well?!?!

Our giraffe just got loose on the streets of richmond. It took ut fifteen lightpoles, thirty cars, and nine people. It broke three homes as well. If you can find it, you can get a $5000 reward.

I dug a hole in my backyard that was as deep as my girafes body. When he is hungry he walks into the hole and I feed him while standing on the ground. Buyng a ladder is a bad financial decision.

How much, would you say, a giraffe would cost?

I got a giraffe and i think its prenant how long will it take to have it?

Comment #19 Kevin McNamara (72.197.247.125) -

I'd feed it giraffe food. We are looking for giraffes and zebras for our ranch in Montana if you know where I can get some.

Number one:

Amber, name calling is not fruitful. And I believe herbert has a zoo.

Number two:

Adeline, you are correct to include your crows in this discussion as the phrase "crows for sale" is in the topic paragraph description of this forum. I do however find it strange to see these completly different animals together for discussion. Perhaps crows will groom the giraffe.(Like the crows groom my friend's giraffe in his backyard.) Consuming bugs, parasites... In any case, I was wondering how to get a crow and how much and all the other many questions that could be asked regarding care and habitat/domestication. Adeline, if you are out there still, send me a message and details. I do know an interesting fact or two about our long necked friend. -Giraffes have the highest blood pressure of any mammal.

omg i asked how much it would cost not to read yalls convo bout them

Where can i buy a giraffe and or a tiger?

Herbert; I've owned some exotics before, but I've never owned a giraffe, so I can't help you there.

However I'll tell you this: The time to find out what to feed any animal is before you order that animal, not after it arrives.

I hope you find someone soon who can be of some help. I'm sure the tall guy is pretty hungry by now.

Harry

LISTEN!!!!! 90% OF EVERYONE WHO HAS COMMENTED ON THIS IS CRAZY!!!! You can't have a giraffe and not know how too feed it!

That's like having a baby and not knowing how to take care of it!!! I would feel bad for the giraffe having to depend on an idiot like you!!! Giraffes are cool, but should be in the wild where the can depend on themselves and run free!!! I bet some of you don't even have giraffes! It's amazing how childish some people are. And a zoo should know how to feed a giraffe, how stupid! I have one thing to say to all of you: Get a dog!!!!!!
