Can an alligator eat a chicken because thats what i feed it and i just wanted to know if it wad alright.
Are you referring to a live chicken, raw chicken carcass froim the store or cooked chicken? Alligators typically prefer their meat live, so they can catch and kill.
Comment #2 wildcard from the swamp -
They can eat any meat, live or dead as long as it isn't cooked. Live is usually best for any reptile as they do prefer to kill it themselves, but raw chunks will work too. In the wild they are killers but they also scavenge dead animals out of the water so it won't hurt them.

Any form of meat is fine for an alligator. I wouldn't get too close when it's full grown and hungry. If you don't want to find it something live any kind of raw meat will work. Just toss it to them and step back.

so yea, i just moved back to ohio from seattle, i left my cat and my taranchula, behind, safe of course, and i got myself a pet mouse. HOwever, down the street is this pet store that sells aligtors, LIke real ones, and I sooo want one. HOw cool would it be to have one of those formidable creatures? and as long as i could buy a big enough tank for it-him-her, then wouldnt it be fine?
I have a pet alligator, answer to any "tank" question: NO NO NO tank will do for awhile but alligators grow to be 12-16 FEET.I'm not being a dick and telling you not to get one, just if you do plan on building a LARGE cage someday....my alligator is 3 feet now in a 125 gallon tank and I am in the process of building a 14x11ft in the basement for him. Other than that plan on getting some breeder rats when its small and some breeder chickens or rabbits when it gets big. Gators like to eat!!!!!
