• Page 1 (Original Post) • Mitzi (158.93.190.78) - Can someone please tell me what is in my house? As I talked on my phone a small black animal with large black eyes, round ears and a flat tail came out from under my couch. I had heard scampering noises in my attic for some time and thought I had regular squirrels. This animal seemed to be tame. It did not run from me and actually allowed me to put a trash can over it. I then released it into a bird cage thinking I had it trapped. Wrong! It flattened itself out and came right thru the bars. Again it did not run but climbed on top of the cage and looked at me. Not knowing what to do or trusting it not to bite me I sat the cage outside. It sat with me watching it for awhile then climbed the brick back to my attic. It does not look like any picture of a flying squirel or sugar glider I have seen. It is very beautiful and it's coat was very soft [I touched the tail while it was in the cage] WHAT IS IT! Comment #1 Big Dog from The Woods (Contact Member) - I think the more important question may be how to get it to move out of your attic! Comment #2 racquel (68.88.115.183) - did you get pictures of the animal Comment #3 Carol (24.149.176.148) - sounds like a chinchila. they are amazing pets, but some people get tired of them and think they can be released. the poor lil guy is probably lost or needing care. call your local ASPCA or such and they may have some tips for you. Comment #4 Jeff from IL (Contact Member) - its not a chinchila they dont climb like that but idk about u but i would be freaking lol tho it sounds pretty cool um if u want to send me a better describtion ill be able to tell u bc i have worked mith many animals like that if its larger then it might be a Coatimundi otherwise if its smaller it could be a idk whats it could be the whole soft thing is throwing me off dude take a pic if u can or give a better describtion Comment #5 akane (70.225.179.38) - um...this is a flying squirrel. they're pretty common. Comment #6 Shaun (68.77.8.147) - My guess is either a sugar glider or a flying squirrel, depending on where you live. And i doubt it was a chinchilla since chinchillas aren't the most graceful flyers, gliders. Comment #7 prinzzess from SW Florida (Contact Member) - NOT a chin I raise them they cant climb or flatten itself. Comment #8 Jasper from Mars (Contact Member) - it could be an over sized RAT, lol! Comment #9 World's Best Grandma! (63.176.159.245) - All of these ideas are pretty scary. I would be so scared of some little animal running around my house. Comment #10 Jim Redmon (98.30.56.125) - Ok I am curious post a pic, Muskrats have flat tails but not furry tails. sounds like some kind of squirrel. Comment #11 Lisa-AnimalProtector from Ohio, The safe place. (Contact Member) - It sounds like a mouse lemur- but I really doubt that, because they only live in Madagascar.... but just google image it, and see if it was it =) Comment #12 Biggles (67.58.175.47) - I bet it is some breed of cat. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
