You can own capuchin monkeys in the us but u required to have certain permits and wat not so please do research. If you all are in such a hurry to give away money. I could use some.:)

Owning them is different than importing them.

You CANNOT IMPORT THEM... so even if the monkeys for sale from Africa weren't a scam you'd never get it.

None of those strange ads is true!

Just think a little:

Capuchin monkeys live in central America and South America!! The same applies to squirrel monkeys and marmosets.

So it is no logic when they offer capuchins and marmosets at extremely low prices, coming from Cameroon (they dont have such monkey species)

Be aware and dont give your money so innocently!!

Heres my 2cent.

I got very excited after reading about a post that says adopt a monkey. I live in Australia so this sort of thing is very rare or unusual. So naturally my common sense told me to do some rearch, which google is designed for. I found that primates licenses are virtually never permitted in australia. So what did I do? Nothing.

All those people who gave money to these scammers should goto jail! Sorry but the reason you got scammed is because you were trying to do something illegal. If the monkey somehow arrives, then you're a smuggler!

Stop trying to bend the law and you won't get scammed. I feel zero sympathy and hope those who lost their money should wake up and try to live an honest life!!!

Why do goverments ban, people who want to care of monkeys?

Just because our top leaders say is wrong, doesn't mean its really wrong to have a exotic pet.

Do you know, that the pet you are buying might have a better life with you than living in the jungle.

Thank yo uto this forum, and the posts on it, it kept me from making a really BIG mistake. I am going to post the latest name(s) of scammers out of Cameroon africa. I guess I got so swept up by the thought of having a baby monkey that the obvious did not click with me.Luckily I did not send any money of any kind. And I also called customs to let them know about what was going on and the names and e-mails that I had. So I am going to do the same here, so that someone else can see and hopefully be saved the way that I was.

I am going to paste the last e-mail that I received from her, when she was changing her plans, and wanted me to Western Union "HER" the money instead of working through my airport, and choice airline....

Forget the names and emails... they change as fast as someone can make a new account in yahoo... probably under 2 minutes!

The key is that NO ONE is going to sell you a monkey via the internet... the second key is that it is a VERY VERY BAD idea to purchase any kind of pet that you don't personally pick out and take home with you!

im sick of all these scammers i didnt fall for the monkey being sent to me i fell for a puppy.

i was looking to get my son a puppy for his birthday and i saved up most of my benefit money to get him one.

i found a guy stating he was in london selling boxer puppies so i emailed him he was very nice and sent me pictues and very convincing details about the pups.

i have trouble travelling outside of london as i suffer with a form of agraphobia so when he told me he lived in essex i realised i coulnt view the pup so i asked him if hed bring one of them down to show me.

he replied saying he could not as this would be unfair n the pup if i changed my mind but he said if i really wanted one he could have one sent to me.

i decided i would so he said pay the sum of 250 using wu which i did he then said that the pup would be with me in 1 day so i waited.

no puppy arrived he never answered any of my emails after that i never got my money back and my son never got his birthday present.

please do not be taken in by these people

It's only illegal to own primates as pets in certain states. Because they are considered exotic animals, if your state does indeed allow pet monkeys, you will most likely need to obtain an exotic pet permit to keep the animal, nothing special. Lots of states allow them to be housed as pets; they're sold over the internet and although rare, sometimes in pet shops. It is, however, illegal to import primates into the U.S. for reasons other than study.

I agree with Jill compeltely. IF you guys really cared about animals, you'd go to a shelter. These monkies are most likely living happily, safe and healthy with their breeder, but several well-domesticated pets are suffering in shelters. So you people make me sick. I mean, if the frigging monkey is in trouble, then go on and take it as a pet. If it isn't, either go to a shelter or shove your head down a toilet (unfortunately I feel a bit like a hypocrite. My dog comes from a breeder, but since it's my brother's dog and I wasn't even born when we got it I have no say in the matter. Yet I love the dickens of him)

Why do those of you who know it's a scam have to be so very rude??? I'd say just warning people in a nice manner is enough!

It IS legal to own a Monkey in the USA.

At least it is in Oregon. And in several states. You just need a permit.

Check your state to make sure it's legal. You CAN find a monkey online, just don't give them the money until you actually pick up the monkey. I would travel to whatever state I needed to to get a monkey..

i saw a fennec fox for like 900 dollars on the internet. and of corse i jumped on the opportunity. i emailed the man about the fox, and he told me he was from canada, but he had to go to cameroon for his missionary or something. and yeah, basically he told me if i gave him 550 dollars it would be here tomorrow before noon. being the nice girlfriend i am (since i was going to get the fox for my boyfriend whose wanted one for like forever) i was like OH FER SHER. well, then number he called me on, when i tried to call it back, didnt work, so he called me. i gave the phone to my mom since she was the unsure one, was just asking him if he is the breeder, what his company is called, and how she knows he actually has the fox, and then he hung up.
