Frobbet from Scotland -

I am currently looking after 4 emperor (imperiol) scorpions, but i havent seen any evidence of them eating for the duration of having them which is hitting on 9 weeks, Im using stadard sized black crickets, they also dont seem to want to venture out of the house(a hollowed out log) im not sure if its cos iv got an incandecent 40w bulb in the viv or if im just doing somthing wrong, I have them on a mixture of vermiculight and bark chipping, if there is any ideas to what im doing wrong or if thats just how they are, would be greatly apreciated

(sorry for spelling)

It could be that they are depressed and still trying to adapt to the new living conditions. Remember animals too have feelings and emotions. There is also the possibility of them eating while you are not watching them.

You could try changing their environment once in a while until you are sure they are not the problem. Also get someone examine them. If all that does not work, maybe they miss their natural habitats.

Why do people keep thinking that exotic animals that are even dangerous and poisonous could be kept at home as pets?

In the wild, emperor scorpions are reported to feed primarily on termites. In captivity they readily feed on crickets, cockroaches, and mealworms. Emperor scorpions are also known to eat small mice and lizards. Emperors are burrowing scorpions, digging with the first or first two pairs of legs. A burrow may be little more than a hollow under a rock or may twist and turn more than six feet into the earth. In the wild, emperors are said to burrow into termite mounds and make their homes there.

I love scorpians. They're probably reeeely sad cause they miss their homes! Maybe they even have little babies!

What? scorpions for pets?

I do not know what attracted people for adopting this kind of creatures. Who knows, what if they sting you and you got poisoned?

I suggest that if ever that you want to buy exotic scorpions, think twice. And if you really want to see some everyday, try to live near a zoo, so you can visit some anytime.
