Hi my names Alex and im new to this site.I live in london and have spent almost 9 years working with big monitors (Nile, asiain water, blackthroats etc) but over the past year i have been gradually turning my attention to a few of the big cats. Initially it was cervils and siberian lynx but for the past few months i have been looking into cougars. So i spent some time looking for UK breeders and it was fruitless and iv had some excellent quality reptilels imported from the US in the past so i was wondering if there where any people in the US on this site who could give me pricing and either bred cougars or could give me and advice on how to find one who is wiling to export to the UK. thanks Alex

"Sanctuary Owner"
First of all, check with your local laws. I believe England banned private ownership of big cats in the mid-1970s. Second-stick to servals, or lynx. No matter how ready you think you are, you are not. I have had many cougars over the last 30 years, and, while I loved them all, they are not for 99.95% of the population. These are wild, unpredictable animals with physical capabilities far beyond those of humans. The only reason I have never been badly hurt by them is that I have NEVER forgotten that. I have a female cat right now that was raised by us, habituated to contact with hundreds of people when she was a kitten, and she grew up to be the nastiest cat we have ever had. She adores me, but hunts everyone else-and she means it. Just some advice. Also, what kind of hoops do you have to jump to import something like that into your country? • Page 1 (Original Post) •
