My daughter got bit by one. I don't think they are good dogs to have around children. I think they are pretty agressive. She ended up getting 6 stitches.
Oh dear! I am so sorry for your daughter. Six stitches? Where? What happened? I'm not defending the dog at all. I grew up with German Shepherds and I no longer like big dogs and am not comfortable around them. But was the dog threatened or frightened?
I was little maybe four when we had one that akita protected me from everything if my mom or dad yelled at me the dog would step in to seperate us.
I agree with Wolfgang, if a dog or cat is frightened they might attack humans. We as pet owners must be responsible on making our pets well vaccinated in case this "bite' accident happens. Tame the animals down. Never let them go hungry for a long period of time. A walk outside would also help, base on my experience. And please if you have kids in the house, try to cage your pet or tie them up to prevent accidents of attacks.
