| dogs giving birthI need to know how do you know if you dog is ready to have a puppy? |
| The dog is ususally panting harder than usual and the belly is very big contact a vet and he/she will help you alot more than I can.....:) GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!! |
| Usually a dog is ready to give birth 62 to 63 days after covering. Do you know the actual date when she was bred? I have found that when a dog is ready to whelp there are many tell tail signs. The first one is they begin to nest. By this they will arrange and rearrange there bedding. Her vulva will swell to four times it's normal size. Her nipples will become red and she will become engourged with milk. My little one actually becomes very clingy the day or two before she is ready and she actually comes and gets me to sit with her when it is time. Also there temp goes up 1 to 2 degrees 24 to 48 hours before. If this is your first time welping call your vet and give him or her you signs and he will put you mind to ease. Good Luck! |
| Dog temperatures will actually go DOWN 1 or 2 degrees.. generally 1.. She will start to be not interested in her food, she will want lots of attention and will be licking her vulva alot. Generally the best sign would be the water sack starting to protude from her privates.. this will mean she is about to have puppies in the next few minutes.. |
| Many things will happen. Mainly these first: Your dog's tummy will seem to drop down Your dog's temperature will drop below 100 degree F (normal temp is 101-102 Your dog will begin to eat a lot Her nipples will enlarge quickly She will begin to "nest", trying to find a soft spot When labor is beginning, she: may begin to vomit will probably cry When pups are about to be born: The water sac will be pushed out first when this happens it will be only minutes until the 1st pup comes out pups can come out right away or it can be up to 2 hours in between each pup being born There is a lot more information on the petpugdog site, under pregnancy. |
| My son's ab just had puppies this week--8, 3 of which died during the first 2 days. Yesterday, day 3, i went to the pen with son, suprise, there were6 puppies. Is it possible to have the birth process stretch over 3 days as we think happened? |
| first litter had clear looking mucus came out yesterday she was hot and her nose was dry yesterday seems to be normal today |
| my dog is preganant but i dont know the signs that shes ready to give birth help me shes due today !!!!!!!!!!! |
| first of all my dog is 18months old and has deen caught by my m8s dog it only happened the once and they were locked for about 20mins could some1 please tell me what they think the chances are of her having pups thanx |
| The best way to know is by taking your dog's temperature. As soon as her temperature drops, she is ready. |
| Count 63 days from the day your dog mated. |
| reply to comment no8, it only takes a dog to get stuck once for them to become pregnant, by now you will probably have noticed that she is |
| Take your dog to a vet for gods sake! You people are so god damn stupid! If you have no ideas on breeding than DONT DO IT! Idiots, all of you. |
| As for comment #12, you're truly are an ass....even if you have a vet it's nice to know what types of symptoms to look for, no two are alike. You don't want to look like a dumb ass when you call you vet at 2am with a false alarm. If this site bothers you so much why did you even take the time to respond? It's people like you that have people scared to ask questions. |
| hi my bitch has been in season 10-11 days and she has locked with another dog successfully 7 times do u think she will be pregnant |

I work in Mexico for a non profit spay/neuter clinic so we get lots of calls from people who assume we can help them when there is no clinic in process. Today I took on a pregnant benji type female. She is a stray and pregnant and looks ready to pop. I've given her lots of blankets to lie on but she prefers my tile floor. Since I know nothing of this little girl is there anything I should do to make her feel at home and to make her feel less scared? I could put her in the bathroom and close the door but she's already nervous. She was fine this afternoon but tonight she seems restless. My dogs have been sniffing her a lot but have otherwise left her alone. Luckily I can be with her until she delivers her pups. Thank You |

| "info on og birth and chances"
if your dog is mated , it is verry likely that she will be impregnatedif you areworrying becouse you do not think she is old enouth that does not matter health wise becouse if your animal was in the wild she would be mated , therefore at the age of her first period she is mature enougth to endurce having pups phisicaly , my dog gave birth at 1 and a half and she was a fantastick mum , and she thourouly enjoyed her pups. , , , , , , symptons basic lack of apetite , not eating as much or at all clingy, following you around alot cying and attention seeking , trying to lour you to there bed , welping box, ect. and a sudden change of position of pups, a drop in the belly, a mucus plug, will begin to seep from the vulva |
| "Almost due"
Hello, my lab is due to have her puppies soon and I am terribly nervous. It's her first litter and I really want everything to go well. Reading some of the comments from above, it seems that she will be ready really soon. I've seen the clear mucus like thing hanging down from her vulva and she's been licking it quite a bit. It's been 60 days since she had conceived and if any of you have anything helpful for me, it would be appreciated. |
| "my dog"
my dog had puppys a week ago and she has lost interest in them still feeds but whenever she feels like it how often in a day should she feed the pups coz she is more interested in feeding herself ! :/ wont let us put a blanket in the dogs bed she drags them back out |
| "Boxer female"
I bought a 1 year old boxer female with the hopes of mating her in about a year on April 12. Little did I know that she was in heat. My 10 month old male got "stuck" with her on April 17th. Today is 5/8/10 and SHE IS HUGE. Her tits are red and starting to get "bags" behind them. My problem is, now I don't know if she mated with any other dogs before I got her. How long into her cycle would she have allowed a male to mate with her? She let my male mate with her on the 17th so if she would receive him, does that mean that she was still able to get pregnant and do I count from that day? This is my first time and like I said, I was wanting to mate them much later. Now I have no idea but like I said, her belly is huge!!! Any ideas? |
| "To comment #22"
To answer your question about your boxer, if she is already showing that much, my quess is that she has mated sometime in March, closer to the beginning of march. My boxer mated March 8th thru the end of that week, and she is about ready to pop, if your dog mated April 17th then it has not even been 30 days (from today) or 22 days since you have posted. That is too soon for your dog to show, much less to even confirm pregnancy with a vet. So my guess is she was pregnant before your dog mated with her. |
