'Non shedding dogs'

I read somewhere that all dogs shed, but there are some dogs that shed very little. Poodles, Yorkies, Bichons, and Schnauzers don't shed very much. If you know of any others, feel free to list them here!

I love my labs but would also love to have dogs that don't shed. I spend so much of my time cleaning up their fur. I don't know of any dogs that don't shed. I know that there are some out there I just don't know any specific breeds. I am sure that they are all small breeds and my husband like big dogs. Maybe we can compromise and get one big dog that he cleans up after and one small dog that doesn't shed and I will take care of that one hehe

A cavelier king charles spaniel cross west highland white terriers don't shed at all but once a month, round about, you have a clipp thier fur. I used to have one and thier fur is so soft and doesn't shed at all and I'm on the search for another.

I wish there was a way to stop dogs from shedding. We brush ours and it doesn't seem to help. He just keeps shedding. I though If we go a short hair dog there would be less hair. Wrong!

What breed of dog do you have? Like the other poster said some breeds shed more than others. I don't think there is a breed that doesn't shed at all. There are several that are considered light shedders. My bouvia does shed but I do keep him groomed often.

Why does it matter if a dog sheds, thats part of having a dog. I have a doberman and he barely sheds and the shedding is tiny little hairs. As long as i brush him he doesn't shed that much. theres no need to cross a pure bred with some poodle so that it doesn't shed. They don't look cute, they look retarded and worthless. A weimeraner is a great dog that barely sheds. Even though a lab has short hair, it has a double coat thats why it sheds so much.

I am looking for a big dog that shed little to none. I want protection for my family & home, but I don't want to deal with a shedder. Any suggestions?

I am looking for a big dog that does little to no shedding. What breeds would be the best bet. Good with children also. thanks

Standard Poodle is a large dog that does not shed. Also Airedales. But remember, non-shedding does not mean non-groomed. We have to have our poodle groomed every 6-7 weeks. And they must be brushed or their coat will get matted. But we never find dog hair on the furniture or in the corners!

If anyone is interested in a small dog, a cairn terrier is non-shedding. I have a cairn terrier and he is great. The only thing is that when they are about 10 mos, they will shed their puppy coat for a bit.

Giant Schnauzers can get up to 100 lb and don't shed much, just like the mini and standard sizes.

The soft coated wheaten terrier doesn't shed either.

Cairn terriers dont shed, however this does mean they need to be brushed a lot to stop them from smelling!!

my cairn terrier is fantastic with kids, I would reccomend a cairn for their lovelly temperment and personality.

there is a medium size dog that is great with kids and that has little to no shedding. its a soft coated wheaton terrier. they are great pets, good personalities, will be protective if they need to be and are gorgeous.

My maltese doesn't shed at all. He is a excellent with people and other dogs. Very easily trained. i would recomend a maltese to any one interested.

We have 2 soft coated wheaton terriers a boy and a girl. They do not shed but do require grooming. They are lots of fun!!!
