'Help I need sleep'

My 9 month old Sheltie is extremely peppy at night.

We just got him from a breeder and he wakes me to go out and do his thing and when we come back in from the yard, he thinks it is party time. We have a doggie door but close it at night because we have a bob cat in the area, that has visited our backyard at night to climb the trees and get some birds. The dog would be no match if he meets up with the bob cat. I have been walking him in the evening, but he still thinks that 3:30 is play time. Would nuetering be an answer?

If he's so excited you could give him a toy to chew on that will entertain him and keep him quiet. Kong toys are good for this. Just get a Kong toy and fill it up with peanut butter or treats and let him lick out the peanut butter. You could also just ignore him when he does this, and he should just settle down since no one will join in.

Also, neutering is advised. We dont need anymore homeless animals in shelters, and it is actually healthier for the animal.
