What does paper have to do with knowing history?

Before paper there were great story tellers... soon paper will be history and we'll have the internet (not that it doesn't create ton of environmental and death).

We may be great storytellers, but it doesnt mean we're perfect. We can miss the tinyest detail, the most important one. Or, say, there was this person who loved to write about his discoverys. He discovered a mircle medicine but didnt tell anyone but wrote it down. 10 years when he's long gone, his papers are found and scientests remake the medicine and it saves millions of lives. Now millions of people would be dead if it wasnt for paper.

**scoff** Ahem, Bigdog. I see your facts about 'word of mouth' are so easy to tap that it's amusing. If it hadn't been for writing, then we'd know nothing before the 14th centuary. If the Sumarians hadn't invented writing and used cuniform, then how would we know what went on back then? Not from word of mouth, but from the cuniform archeoligists found. Ahem. Point made.
