Does your dog sleep on your bed at night?

Jeanette from AZ -

Both of my sisters' dogs sleep on their beds at night!! I definitely would not let mine do that. Maybe if we had a small dog but not a big dog...

Comment #1 Courtney (1) from The South -

Our dog sleeps under the covers in the bed with us sometimes in the winter. She is little and I feel sorry for her when it is really cold and snowy outside. We always make sure she has had a bath before she gets to sleep in our bed.

Comment #2 Lucy from Hickville, USA -

When Sadie was younger she used to sleep in the middle of the bed with us but when she could no longer jump up that high without help she stopped sleeping on the bed. Shadow only sleeps with us in the winter. It is weird as soon as it even starts getting a little warm she hops right down and sleeps on the dog beds we have next to our bed. She is a bed hog too. I say she sleeps in the middle but that would be a slight fib. We don't mind. My husband like it because they keep his feet warm at night. He actually encourages it lol

Comment #3 BadGRRL from the pound -

Not a chance...lol Mine are 115 and 105 pounds respectively and if they slept on the bed there wouldn't be room for my husband and I, even on a Cal King! My male sleeps on my side on the floor down by the foot and my femal sleeps across the bedroom door. You can't get in or out of the bedroom without them knowing.

Comment #4 Goldie from Wisconsin -

Hate to admit it, but yes he does! In fact as soon as we get up he jumps in to my spot and sleeps with his head on the pillow! I getting tired the dog hair in my eyes! LOL

Comment #5 Wolfgang from Dog Pound -

We always had big dogs and they weren't allowed in the rooms at night. I wouldn't want one on my bed. Just too big!

Of course, Gus sleeps in my bed at night. He is my third son. He is a 6 lb Yorkie and thinks he is as human as we are and when 9:00 to 10:00 comes, he starts reminding me it is at least time to lay down and watch TV. His favorite spot, under the cover, in the curve of my body as I lay on my side.

He wakes me in the morning by jumping off bed, getting one of my bedslippers, and bringing it back to me.

I would never apologize for him sleeping with me. He is one of us; why should he sleep on the floor on a pad.

Years ago, when married, my Golden Retrevier (90 lbs!) would sleep right between my wife and I. It started when he was a pup, was real cute, his paws off the bed when older...

And he was underdestanding - if my wife and I wanted to be intimate he would sleep on the floor without a problem. He was a wonderful dog.

My dog sleeps right between my girlfriend and me with her head towards the door. We call it her "bun"...like a hotdog bun.

I had a toy poodle for 14 years and he slept with my husband and me from day one. He was 10 weeks old when we got him. He was the best and would sleep by my side. He got sick with congestive heart failure and cancer last Dec. and we had to put him down. I have not gotten over it yet! We got 2 poodle puppies in Feb. They are brothers and we started them out on the dog bed because they were so hipper. They are still on dog beds! I can't put them in the bed, one tries to eat my hair and the other one "marks" our pillows.

We have four (used to be 5) chihuahuas, All slept in our bed. Including any 6 wk or older pups until they were sold. Our dogs are well behaved and non-barkers except when necessary and our puppies have always been remarkably calm, and social which is why we still breed after several years with waiting lists for our puppies.

I have a six month old Dangerzone pitbull who weighs about 50 pounds and she is such a lazy couch potatoe! If I'm in my room and not playing with her or giving her attention, she always falls asleep on my bed! When I try to go to bed I have to push her off and she won't budge. I try to make my bed in the mornings but it is impossible because she's always laying all over it. She never sleeps at the foot of the bed but on my pillow. If I'm not in my room she will always fall asleep on my feet where ever I'm standing or sitting. But I still love my bed hogger.

Hi, many dogs love to be close to their owners and want to sleep on the bed. The only negative aspects is when the owners want "intimate" time alone and the dog is right there! You can always get a soft, comfortable doggie bed and place it next to your bed. But, if you do not mind your canine family member on your bed, then this is not a negative habit.

My Pit Bull Rebel(about 85lbs.) is a bed hog and my girlfrend is a bed hog too. I'm stuck in the middle like meat on a sandwich. I like em both in there.
