| Do you feed your dog table food? My sister would give her dog table food all the time. They would cook ground beef and rice for her EVERYDAY. Actually they would make a big batch of it so it would last a whole week. Geez, and I don't even have time to cook for my family!! |
| Actually the hamburger and rice is to help the dog if it isn't feeling well. I have had to do this several times for my dogs. If they are vomiting or have diarrhea it helps their stomachs. Sadie just went through a little spell where she did't want to eat. So I made up a batch and put a little in her food and poof the food was gone. Now as far as food we are eating for dinner my husband is very guilty of this. I just made the comment last night that they only surround him at meal time and not me because they know he will feed them. Also when he makes popcorn you would think he was handing $100 bills the way they flock to him. |
| Interesting. I was told that dogs and cats should eat "human" food because they digest food differently then us and it was actually bad for their systems. |
| I feed my dog some table food. I stay away from chocolate and sweets and my dog is healthily and happy. |
| I do give my dog table food but not choclate your other things harmfal to them I try not to give them people food really at all. But I start to fell sorry they just have to eat plain dog food. |
| Is it okay to feed your dog table food? Reply! - Lisa owner of a golden retriever. |
| I give my dog table food only as a treat. If you give your dog to much table food, it can cause obisity. If a dog is over weight, its legs will give out, and then they will have to be put asleep. Here is a sugjestion to help get your dog to it its own food, instead of yours: First you want to take some of your dog's favorite food, such as chicken or peanut butter. Add just a pinch of dog food to the food in wich they are given, but make sure it is not visable. Each day add a little more dog food to the food in wich they are given. About a week later, turn things around. Add a little bit of table food to the dog food, every day untill only dog food. Make sure you do not go to fast. If you do it will not work. Make sure that you only give your dog table food rarley. It is okay every once in a while, but not all the time. Save your dog by making sure it is not over weight. Have monthly check ups yo the vet. Ask your vet the approximate weight that your dog should weigh. Also make sure your dog has plenty of exersise. A happy helthy dog, is the best kind to have! P.S Obisity can lead to depresion for your dog. |
| sorry for the typos in #6 |
| Is there any harm in giving my dog cooked egg? I whisked an egg and microwaved it. I mixed some in with her dog food and she loved it. One egg lasted three to four days. I feed her twice a day. I have done this twice now. Thanks in advance for your response. Gail |
| I have a 2 year old peagle and she has bad allergies. So, my aunt and my mom got with this woman from a doggie place and she gave them a book to read. So, now my mom and aunt are getting rid of all dog food in the house and feeding them rice, chicken, carrots, and some oils over top of it to help allergies, their coats, and digestive system. Dog food contains saw dust, but cat food doesn't because cats can't digest it like dogs can. I guess whatever is good for a human to eat is good for your dog too. I don't see the harm. I guess we will try it and see what happens. They say you will start seeing a difference within 21 days. |
| Many Dogs cannot tolerate table food. Often the dog seems fine and then dies long before his time. You are left wondering why. I have seen many dog's lives cut in half by feeding them table food. At the very least, the dog has bad breath, loose or runny stools, coat problems or lack of luster and possible weight problems. When you switch your dog to a nutritionaly balanced diet for dogs made with natural, organic, grain free ingredients, you will find all of the above things cleared up. You will most likely notice that the dog will only eat when hungry and not over eat. He will have much more energy and easier joint movement. He will outlive the dog eating table food. |
| i am scared 2 feed my dog table food should i do it r not |

| You know what, guys? You can come to Target where there's lots of stuff. Like you can buy an Alana 1 movie. |
| no i'd never feed my dog, dog food because of what Eric said (coment 15) because i heard all the same stuff too, and they use all the bad part in the anamals, i'd never let my dog eat it, would you eat it your self? if not, why let your dog eat it?? |
| It is never a good idea to give a pet table food. This will encourage them to have a habit of begging...and the food that you give can be harmful. Dogs are not designed to handle human food...our food can be very fatty, spicy, etc. If you want to home cook for your dog that would be the healthy way to go, but you must take care to follow the recipes and not just give them what is on your plate. |

i have 2 dogs.. one is a German Shepard Lab mix (thunder)he will be 3 years old this summer and the other is a lab/whippet/pit mix (Cinni)she just turned 3 in january, we have fed Thunder table scraps and regular food from 4 months old and Cinni since we got her in 2007 she was 9 months old. they have a regular vet are very healthy they get TONS of exercise they have excellent coats shiny teeth and are in great health.. now, we feed them healthy foods like pastas with meat, veggies, potatoes anything we eat they get, it is 100% better than feeding them what the dog food company makes and i know what is going into the food! of course i stay clear of the bad things, like onions spices chocolate etc, and they are fine. they go to the vet and every boasts about how well they shine and how white there teeth are, they get raw hides as treats and they have the best breath EVER!!!so, i do not buy the " do not ever feed table scraps" line, waaayyy back in the 1940's what do you think the dogs ate back then?? table scraps, and they lived long healthy lives!!! |

I do feed my dog from the table, I always keep a bowl of dry food out for her which she nibbles on through-out the day. In the evening when I get home from work, I cook her up a scrambled egg & mix it with her food & a little shredded cheese. The dog is happy & content & looks beautiful. Anyway life would be pretty boring if we all ate a perfect diet everyday. |

I have fed all my dogs people food, and I stay away from anything junky, like chips and popcorn, I think of my dog like a people, as much as he thinks he is.I like giving my dogs carrots instead of boughten dog treats, or baked baby food. (Riley lost two pounds just from cutting out boughten dog treats) When I worked at a dog daycare, I learned that a lots of different dog treats are not good for your dog. They can cause bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, weight gain, and even infections. Some, too much fatty acids or too much salt, too much wheat, etc. What we consider healthy is actually healthy for your dog. Beware though, there are some fruits and veggies that are not good for your dog. Also careful of allergies, a lot of people don't realize the danger of giving there dog a new food/treat. Dogs can have a food allergy just like us. it all comes down to how well you know your pet, and what you feel comfortable feeding your pet. Compare a can of Chunky soup to a can of dog food, you'll be surprised on what you see. |
| "I am not pro dog food!"
I see a few comments 'FOR' dog food only diets for pets... I say, if God wanted my dog to eat "JUST" dog food, he would have created it for them. After all, animals have been on this planet as long as we have. If the foods and other products made by man can give us cancer and other things, what will the CRAP they put into dog food do to our pets?? And saw dust is only the beggining of the nasty things put into the foods sold for your pets!! Use your computer and look up all the ingredients they use to make those nasty smelling bags of crap most people feed their pets!! It is disgusting! You wouldn't eat that mess so why on earth would you feed it to a pet you love and treat as part of your family!? My pets eat rice, chicken, ham, bacon, green beans, carrots, peaches, apples, corn, broccoli, eggs, and lots of other things i cook myself. I also make them peanut butter cookie dog treats at home with plain whole grain wheat flour and they love them. I spend a few days a month making some of these as they can be frozen and baked later. My dogs, one is a shih tzu named Tuff Love (Tuff)3 yr.old and weighs 8 lb.s, the other a mixed breed we adopted from a closing puppy mill named Dude Lewis (Lewie) 11 mo. old and weighs 9 lb.s. They are healthy and happy, And I wouldn't change a thing! |
| "Cooking for my dog"
I have a male Chihuahua, his name is Dexter. Yes, I do cook for him. He is a very fussy eater, will not eat potatoes, bread or anything made from starch. I will not give him ice cream or any snacks like that.Dexter is very spoiled. I cook him chicken (his favorite), hamberger, sausage. He cannot be in our lap or on the couch while we are eating. I am going to try bananas, they say that is good for a dog. Don't know whether he will like it. Like I said he is a very fussy eater, even with people food. I have tried to give him dog food with people food but he does not want anything to do with the dog food. He dosen't know that he is a dog lol. I love Dexter with all my heart, He gives us unconditional love and we recricate. If I go to the store, he waits at the window for me and will not leave until I get home. |
| "That's sound interesting"
I thinks she is really much caring about the dog health. You should give her separate place to cook dog food. |
