Bone Problems??

ive got a 5 yr old german shorthair pointer and we have recently takin him to a vet several times because he has had this growth under his left eye around his jaw area, the first time we took him the vet shaved some of the bone off of him and seemed to be getting better then a few weeks later it grow more than it was the first time we took him, so we took him back in and the vet shaved off more bone and sent it in to see if it was cancer and it came back that it was not cancer, i just ook him back yesterday for the same bone and this time it was like he got in a fight with our female and it was infected, the vet called me and told me the bone was deteriorating and he polled a couple of teeth out. does anyone have any suggestions for me and my dog on what it could be
