Beer For DogsNew on the shelves . . . dog beer? Indeed, Happy Tail Ale is a nonalcoholic beer beverage treat that pups are yelping for. This line started several years ago when the founders of Dog Star Brewing Company took their pet Kodi camping, only to find him knocking over their beer bottles so he could gulp down the contents. They knew that alcohol, hops, and carbonation were bad for their pet, so they experimented and soon developed an all-natural beverage made with malted barley, filtered water, glucosamine, vitamin E, and beef flavoring. Why not kick back and pop open a brew for yourself . . . and one for your pet? Having a drink with a friend just took on a whole new meaning. Excerpted from My Dog Blog (Preview)
I think this is an unbelievable bad idea. "Why not kick back and pop open a brew for yourself . . . and one for your pet?" Maybe you can pop open one for your kids too. Even if you aren't your still instilling them with the concept that being a lazy beer bellied drunk is a suitable way of life!
I have to agree with Fred on this one. Totally ludicrous. Why would you want to give your pet a beer, alcoholic or not? We had a neighbor who use to take his dog out for Happy meals at McDonoald's. I thought that was ridiculous too. Beer for dogs is taking the analogy that "dog is man's best friend" a bit too far.
Unbelievable!! What are they going to think of next? There was a story here recently about a gentleman who only fed his dog beer. This poor dog gained over 75 pounds!! He is lucky to be alive. The dog was taken away from his owner and the owner was charged with cruelty to animals and awaiting trial.
yuck, that is just incredible and unbelievable. I hope this person doesn't sell any of it because that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. I will stick with water thank you very much. I want my dog to stay healthy.
I think its one of those joke ideas. Some dumb guy will think its funny and maybe the company will make a few dollers before it fades out.
Ok I have heard of beef flavored water for dogs, which I have purchased and given to my dog (she loved it), but dog beer come on. I should just come up with something completely crazy and try to sell it, I bet you I would make millions. My neighbor's dog actually likes beer. I think it is a little much to give your dog beer but it isn't my dog. I don't think that dog beer will be on my next grocery list.
That dog might like the yeast flavor the beer has but it has nothing to do with the alcohol involved in the beer. I dont think its very responsible to give a dog beer. I think this product doesn't have the alcohol from what i read.
give him a beer who cares
I'm sure the beer for dogs doesn't contain yeast, which is what gives beer its alcohol and carbonation. The ingredients listed in the ads are also in many dog foods, just not in liquid form. My dog loves to steal beer from people when they aren't looking, so if this would help keep him from doing that, I'm all for it! Yeah, it's another gimmick, but I know of several dog bakeries. If your going to spoil your dog, and love beer, then this will work.
There is nothing wrong with giving your dog a little wine or beer (very little)... after all it is good for their heart just as it is for ours.
that was really dumm you are really dumm you need help.
beer is good...most of em. dogs are good...most of em. i like dogs. i like beer. seems like they would go together pretty well. they say dogs are like their owners. why cant my dog just be a silly drunk like me? its only fair. and screw that fake stuff. i would give my dog real beer. but by the time i feel like giving him one i already drank them all. but its all good
For those who give their Dogs Beer or Wine, PLEASE stop!! Alcohol is NEVER O.K. for pets. If you must drink with your pet check out Alcoholics Anonymous on line.
Heck, why not give beer to your dog? Non-alcoholic beer is even better because your dog still looks cool at parties (my dog lives in my college-rented house), but with none of the potentially deadly side affects of actual alcohol. I'm not a stiff who avoids alcohol because its against my religious or moral code or something like that, so I can't see any problem with feeding a dog non-alcoholic beer, especially if it bears a name like "Happy Tail Ale". If meat-flavored water is worth buying for them, why not Dog-beer?
I am a single mom with a very long job at the end of my day I like to drink 2 beers. Our puppy tries to over do herself every time i have my sanity at the end of our day. No harm no done that is all I am saying.
To anyone who's pissed that there's a beer made for dogs- 1/2 of all ingredients used in pet food are by-products from facilities whick make ethanol or beer. They are used to it way before you served them one... or your kids.
My 9 week old Lab/dalmation mix loves beer....he never bothers me when I eat food, but anytime I crack a beer FORGET ABOUT IT...
You people who are freaking out over a dog beer need to get a grip. There's nothing wrong with it, other than it being a bit silly. An NA beer made especially for dogs isn't a bad idea. I know my dog likes beer. I let her have a few ounces of my Fat Tire last night and she licked the bowl clean. She didn't throw up or take a massive dump on the floor or exhibit any signs of being drunk. "Maybe you can pop open one for your kids too. Even if you aren't your still instilling them with the concept that being a lazy beer bellied drunk is a suitable way of life!" That is one of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard. Just because you enjoy beer doesn't mean you are automatically fat and lazy.
I get my dog drunk every day, he shows no ill effects so what's the problem? He likes it and he gets really funny so it's worth it if he dies.
| "Drinking dogs?"
My dog could outdrink your dog. |
