Is anyone interested in a lovely dilute tortoise shell? She is creamy grey, blue, gold and just beautiful. We cannot keep her anymore, she would be a lot happier as the only cat in a household. She can't tolerate children and doesn't enjoy close proximity to other animals. (the dog) She is very affectionate, but prefers not to be picked up. Rather, if someone sits or lies down, she will perch on your chest or lap. She does the cute 'bunny eye' cover when she sleeps. She is declawed and spayed. Very vocal. Strictly and indoor cat. Sacramento CA.

I have a tortie named Sheba. She was a rescue kitty. I had put down my cat of 18 years and my boyfriend decided I needed another cat. We went to Petco to find a kitten. Sheba attracted my boyfriend, jumped out of her crate and on to his shoulder. She then proceeded to try to get him to open the other crates. We brought her home and had to fix a couple of issues, like growling over food, eating every bit and throwing it back up when we came home. Now she is a little bossy girl. She act like a 3 year old child. When she is stressed she will bring a mouse in the bedroom and onto the bed. She also crates herself if she has had too much. She loves her routine, i.e. bedtime, time to get up etc. She loves to roll in hair and likes stinky shoes and my boyfriends clothes. She does sometimes get in a snit and will hiss. Usually after getting locked in the closet or not enough attention. Other than that she is amazing

Hello!I've had my Tortie for about 2.5 years now. She was 4.5 years old when I adopted her for the local Humane Society. I adopted her because she was the only cat that seemed to pay attention to my girlfriend and I when we walked by her cage. She just wouldn't stop rubbing up on the Plexiglas! I'm not usually the domesticated cat type, but I just couldn't resist; I had to get her! She has been the most affectionate, most lovable cat I have ever interacted with. She has such human-like mannerisms and emotions that it is uncanny. I'm not sure if Torties are usually like this or if it it just because of the way she was raised. She is completely obedient and not destructive at all! She never ever gets angry about anything and always loves to get petted. What baffles me the most is how much she loves being around groups of people. She loves to sleep with me and cuddle, and always intrudes when my girlfriend and I are cuddling. When she wants attention and it isn't being given to her, she kind of pouts. She is slightly overweight so I have been recently letting her go outside for brief moments of time but I make sure to observe her constantly as I am afraid to lose such a precious asset of my life. I am very curious about other peoples' experiences with Torties so please e-mail me! I'd love to chat about it. Cheers! Josh

We bought a new house this summer and slowly came to the realization that a Tortie was included with the house! (People who leave their pets behind are so evil, but that's another story). I totally think Torties make the best pets in the world. Our tortie is super sweet and affectionate. She is also very interactive, energetic and wants to get into everything that you're doing. She can be very vocal when she wants something like food. She is particular- she loves wet food and will finish it quickly, but will leave dry food around. She loves heavy cream, but will never drink water even from a nice bowl. She has never ever hissed, bitten, or displayed any signs of aggression. She loves humans, but is skiddish around strangers. She loves to be "petted" but only the way she wants it. Her idea of being petted is to have you stick your hand out and she jumps onto your hand and gets petted in the areas she wants you to pet. She'll do that for 5 minutes and then she's done. My Tortie also has the biggest eyes and longest gaze. Sometimes when I'm sitting on the porch in the early morning, she'll sit next to me and rub her head on me and just look into my eyes forever. I was hesitant to do this because I read somewhere that cats interpret long gazes without blinking as a display of aggression, but not my Tortie! Also I can also walk my Tortie. She will follow me on a walk and when sometimes she lags behind because she smells something interesting, all I have to do is stick out my arm and get down to her level and call her name and she comes running to me. Soooo cute and sweet!! Seriously Torties are the best. So I can't attest to the "Tortietude". I think if she is moody, she will go off into her own space for a little while, but that's it. BTW, my Tortie loves to be with us so much it's sweet. She will sleep in the same room with us as long as we are up, but as soon as we goto sleep she takes off. She does always want to sit somwhere where she can keep a good eye on us....

We've had our torti for about 5 months and she is the cutest cat I've ever had contact with. We got her from a Pet Smart shelter in Miami and I really can't think what we'd do without her. She is the cutest cat, never showing any aggression and she loves attention. She also does the sweetest thing were she throws herself into you when she wants to be petted and she has the cutest meow and this little bird-type noise that she makes. She also comes and sleeps in bed with us every morning and she's currently curled up on my lap as I type! She's an indoor cat and she loves to look out of the window and make weird noises. This is the first cat I've ever owned (my fiancee has another that lives with us) and I never really knew how loving a cat could be.

I recently adopted a diluted tortie also. She is so funny, she loves water and I think she thinks we speak the same language. She loves to torment my others animals too. Despite her excess energy she is a great snuggler when she isn't attacking my feet or pouncing on my face. She is also extremely smart, my other cat likes top drink out of the toilet, she saw him do that and just HAD to copy him. She also is learning to sit and opens doors by running her head into them hehe!!!

I don't know if I can really add anything to this discussion, but it sure has been fun reading all of your postings. I rescued a 6-month-old tortie about six years ago and, without hesitation, kept her after a divorce. Just like most of the cats described here, my Tippy is needy, talks A LOT, is affectionate, loves to play, loves to have her belly rubbed, follows me from room to room and, yes, meets me at the door every night. I can't imagine a dog being more faithful or loyal than this odd, needy, talkative cat. She's a great pet, a good companion and the best friend anyone could have!!!

I love my tortie Emo, she is very emotional, just as her name suggests. She is about a year old now, she loves water! She has joined me in the shower, she plays with my fiancé in the bath and she cannot leave the kitchen sink alone when I am doing dishes. She has a wonderful personality.. Even though she plays rough she ends up falling asleep in my lap. She's my little baby and I won't trade her for anything in this world!!! Emo loves to shove us around, with her strong mieaoo.. But as they say, cats own humans.. Not the other way around!Long live Emo, and long live Tortitude!

My tortie is a snob lol, i love her to death though.. ive had her for 4 years now, her name is Rose. She only likes to be touched on her terms, and she choses when. Picke her up and she stiffens like a board, she never bites however and ive never heard her growl. She prefers to be looked at an not touched.. she is beautiful and i think she knows it. Ive never had a cat as unsocial as her, but i respect her attitude, it makes up all of her personality.

I adopted a dilute tortoiseshell female from the animal shelter at the end of Jan '09. She had been feral. The shelter estimated her to be about 8 which was confirmed later by the vet. She is extremely shy. She spent the first week under my bed except for food and the cat box. It took about 3 weeks for her to warm up to my roommate. Once she does warm up to people she is an attention . She can't get enough. I think she treats me like a big cat. She also "hugs" my arms and wrists. She loves to bite (not hard it feels like a pinch) and scratch. Half the time I think she is a rabbit because she jumps around so much or a prairie dog because she will stand on her back legs. She is super sweet when she wants to be. She makes little noises that aren't meowing. They could be a moan. It usually occurs when I try to pick her up. She hates that. As the weeks wear on I am noticing her meow more. I keep thinking it is because she is hungry ( i tend to call her piggy) but now because she wants to play and talk. Her name is Kora and I am trying to help her socialize more. She hates it when we have company. She won't come out and will hide under the bed the whole time. I am taking her to my sister's for easter and interact with her two cats and a miniture pincher. I want to see how she is with other animals. I hope it will help her shyness. She is curious when I take her to the vet or to get her nails clipped. She will watch them from her carrier.

my tortie is named Persephone. shes completely in control of my fiance and i. if we lock her outside our bedroom door at night shell meow outside the door untill we let her in. no matter how long it takes us to get up. as soon as we let her in shell jump on the bed and snuggle right next to us. if i sleep on my back shell lay on my chest all night.her favorite toy is a fishing pole with a fish on the end with a bell and shell go absolutely crazy for it. all we have to do is ring the little bell and shell come running, if we swing it back and forth quickly she do complete back flips. shell bite the fish off end of the string and if we arent paying enough attention to her shell fling it around the room and at us! its the funniest thing. she loves to be pet, but only on her head, if you go near her bottom shell snap at you. if im the only one home shell follow me around the house. our bathroom door doesnt latch and when im in the shower shell push it open and come up to the ledge of the bathtub and meow. no one can resist a tortie! my fiance strongly disliked cats before persephone and i moved in, and now hes worse than i am! our new roommate was a self-proclaimed dog fanatic when she moved in and now she loves the little kitty. were completely her slaves and she has the tortietude. shes sassy, but i love her!

I had a tortoise longhaired kitty for one year. I got her when she was 3. She died this morning. I am very sadden by her loss. I thought she was the most unique kitty I have ever had. she followed me wherever I went. She never liked my other kitty. She mewed all the time. She carried a stuffed kitten around everywhere. After reading your posts, I see that is usual for a tortoise. I will have to have another tortoise. I had a calico and she was really unique as well. She could predict when it would storm. She yowled at eveyone and came when called. She always chased her tail, never understanding that it was attached to her!

I love torties! I have two of them and they are the most spoiled things in the world. The oldest is the most pampered. She meows at night until we go get her and lay her on the bed. The second is wild and crazy. She is the playful one. I love them both so much. Torties are the most beautiful cats in my eyes.

Comment #14 Meredith (75.67.142.234) - ...I have never had a cat like this one. She reminds me of my black lab. She greets me every morning.. waits outside the shower.. then proceeds to follow me everywhere I go.. she begs for food... She, like some of the others also has her stuffed toy mice and even a stuffed kitty. We are definitely amused at our house! except for the kids...our exact story...OMG!!! Our "lil'Bear" is her name, is like having a minature dog, you can't help but to want to explore the nature of the beast you have. my beast is just another character in the adventures of calvin and hobbes. i kid you not. when i met my girlfriend we had both had our share of animal heart break. our conclusion ..no pets. Her more furverent about it then me. Oh did i say she is OCD to freak max...i couldn't even imagine how an animal or even kids would fit into her life. man, i remember when we met she was so beautiful, her eyes, our souls virtually connected in an instant. Both having come to the same point in life...to be alone. For me, man it's hard to figure out how to let help in my life. my work...helping kids in outreach that was it, relationships where too gut wrentching when you invest in it then it;s gone. it's like trying to quit tabaco. It's like everything i have ever went through to make me able to handle such a delequette, i am not of a speller. it's like waking up to a dream everyday. it's the depth of her eyes, being the only one trusted enough by God himself, to get close enough to her heart to feel her pain. I was always taught to communicate and i think God had plans of his own when i went in for what was supposed to be a rutine wisdom teeth extraction ended up being a broken jaw, ya know when you you know somethings wrong in the body department KNOW...yeh you know that PAIN!! add a fours day of trying to getting adiquit attention, then there's the other surgery to fix it, then there we me having to surrender...to my mouth. How wrong does that sound. two years later we move to the shores of the maritimes. my view is water. first item off the U-Haul truck, yet again me, an ambluance, dr's, specialists, mri's later here at only a mere four months here. i again have been caused to surrender to the recovery of torn mcl, acl...yeh that pain. Now it's four months and a day...memeber that fixed mouth...it broke. I like to make her think its not as bad but she comes into the room with me all the time so when i hear it she hears it. to me just fix it cuz i will wrap if i need to to get things done around the house seeing as the roles have changed. i do the house things she does the work thing which is fine by me i've always loved a woman in a uniform, it works for me. so my jaw caused me to sit while Dr.phil went through the whole relationship phase. it was great for me. It's great to have a good Dr.Phil intellectually stimulating conversation. See, to help others you have to love sociology and be amazed at how life has it's own domino effect on things and the way people are. it's my passion of great joy. so when i talk to her i can't say i said cause...."you're you to me not a shrink!" hence the shout to Dr.phil. i hate reading but ya gotta think like me to talk to me. The second time down, i took me time to get to the gut wrenching mooshy stuff ya just don't talk to anyone about, it's private. so here we are celebrating two years.I am now a "stay at homer" Man, it's like an all day thing just to keep up with the dishes. We think about kids but right now, we feel we're not ready to give all of us to them. So, for a year of living by a barn my beautiful, i'll take you on, southern country belle...thousands born none with her.we get together we decide to stay in the country by a barn. not only did we not well not me. This cat got from me hearing a blushing bride voice doing the "skootchie koo" thing as she comes in right on OCD schedual. I love my girl and have learned and studied all about OCD. it's not enjoyable at times and there are levels of patience is a virtue matters but knowledge is power and power is healing, so to heal one's mind it need be brought back to a balance in life it'self. mind, body, spirit. My love rose comes in a package all her own and i'm blessed to have found my soul mate. I'm all about communications, and i gave God my word i would treat this woman with the respect honor dignity, loyalty and help her blossom like the yellow rose she is to me. The "skootie koo's" went to THAT LOOK, you know the cat in shrek..yeh, that look, as i look further down to the floor i got a pregnant cat about to go at anytime with a mouse in her mouth sitting on the step waiting, and it wasn't for me. Man, you can never understand the feeling of love so deep you sometimes i think about her and i slip a breath. it's like just the thought of her takes my breath away. i have been given the guard of her heart as for it not to get hurt again. wow, as i look out to the water, the trees of Lunnenburge county it's as though i may have been down since the first day but being here where we are has let feel how to exhale for the first time in 37 years. The "stray" pregnant calico cat pulled hard on my heart strings from day one but my pride and cat fur...bla bla bla. Here's how it went, football on tv, my uniform comes walking through the door like a vision and the look and by some God sent sign for the first time that year...it snowed, came in as the most well mannered fun loving, getcha right there. My baby bear now had a friend who she called lil'proon AND the Jersey search was on it went on, she was officially one of us.I watched in amazement how this cat made my wife fullfilled. Attatched you can't even believe how my girl flourished with out pourings of love that just never drained it's like it was radiant glowing like. Her first vet visit we went to get a sist removed from her mouth and to see how the babies where doing. we were so excited, they told us we could come back and get her in a couple hours.God, my stomach knots all up just writting it. I drove Boo back to work and went home. boo had a shedualed tim's run for me, gotta love coffee. her usual routine run she came and walked out the door. the phone rang, regular stray cat matienance package provided, i said whatever she needs for shots or tests do it, no problem. within two hours, i get the call from Hell itself. this being a year into our relationship and what this cat means to my partners very heart. I called her at work as I casually asked her to come home. she came home, I told my wife words i hope never to come out of my mouth. I told her the vet just called and wanted us to know that lil'Prune would have to be put down, no an if's or buts. She had Feline Aids, and the chances of the babies(6) not having the same where slim. we went in they put her down after we got her cow sookie blankit, and your favorite toy mr.mouse. As I stood by I had this wierd notion that she'd be back. it's like i instantly believed in feline reincarnation, for the sake of my morning star. Tore her apart, tore her up. i asked the doctor if she was ever in any pain. and when he said, severe by the time she got to us, i got really wierd, dr.phil calls them stages of mourning. and as anylytical as i am i held on as tears flowed down the tender cheeks of my beloved as she looked me right in the eyes and asks why. then i get mad cuase this did not need to happen right now! then i think, what would Dr.phil do. my favorite line ever is "I know it's hard out there but WE can do this" . I did purchase the preparing for the 7 most challenging days of your life but never did read it cause by the time i got the book i had watched enough of t.v to have of. I asked the doctor if she was in pain because the connection between that cat and my wife was like no other it's like they could feel each others pain. I knew like her mother lil'prune did all she did from the mice at the feet of my girl to lying in her lap watching movies. I on the other hand stay home, feed'em and i gotta pick it up to get a hug.We buried little prune that april of 07. one day it hit me...no cat! it was a confusing feeling to me as i thought about if i'm feeling this what is she feeling. The sadness of it all overwhelmed me. all she said was she wanted a calico cat. i never asked questions just became computer savey enough to find out who what when where and why. we looked at so many faces of calico. i called everywhere i didn't care the distance if she connected to this cat it was worth the trip. we realized that prune was put in our lives to teach us something and in return all she wanted was love and she had the best four months any cat on this planet could ever imagine. it was if we were going through cats like picking out a child. you think about names, it's time to put up the picture of remembrance and never take forgranted our lives with each other and cherish everyone equal. Yehp, lil'prune in her little red basketball jersey. lol. to tired to think, running on no fumes we go to the spca after missing it being open twice. we went internet but it was to unattatched for us. this choice was made by of us. it was like all these parental thoughts and feelings started to emerge in us. Man, if my friends knew about this, but i gotta get this off my chest. Spook! was the name of the cat with NO ID! I couldn't believe the flood of cats there all i could think about was what each story was to bring them here the spca. wow, the all deserve survival medals. so hard to pick. the unusual thing i realised for the first time was how short my lady is. i calculated it..5 feet 3 1/4 inches tall. I am 5'10. these cats looked like giant cats when she picked them up. this is aweful and we laughed so hard in the room that day about it. she said i feel like a little kid trying to pick up a heavy cat. they we're all huge even to me. now i'm hungry, really hungry add a healthy helping of tired with that you get attention span of none, and running out of patience "feeling" which Dr.phil told me in man camp to man up! well i manned up got a fourth wind and got back in gear with her in this life altering desicion that i choose to be apart of and if it gets exhausting, what delivery ain't. Put my arm around her shoulder and bent down to rub an aching knee. I swear it was like looking into the hut nest of an owl. a little tiny teenie head slid sideways as if off her collar her head glided down to the side of her puffed out little chest sitting in the far back on the little perch in the catch on the bottom of the floor. she made this little twiter sound. she so unusually tiny. i thought she was a kitten and stood back up. Having combed the entire new, used, abused, kittens to cats that where calico or not by this point. 30minutes later while still in the room with all the cats, i say hey babe wonna see the cutest thing, i forgot about it earlier. she bent down on one knee the both to really see. she opened the cage and calvin and hobbes where formed. I knew in my heart she had found the cat she wanted, so i went out to fill out the final approval on my pre-exsisting just in case she finds it there she'll want to take it that day. and a good spca will make you wait a few days a actually call your referrences. it's like asking people..do you think we would be good parents? I go out to the desk and bring an empty name card with a number. I tell them this is the cat my wife has chosen. I ask for it's history, then name. I look down while signing a final paper. "Spook!" Holy hanah did I just get a shot of OFFENSIVE! It was though it was a bad trigger to pull for two caucasians. However, like any "community" we all have good and bad in them all. I would say i am a tall, dark, classic drink of red wine to the driest of tastes. But I can also be an aquirred taste if you step your toes on my grapes. Involuntary clasping of my fists, jaw tighing. Thank God Dr.Phil prepared me for this one on the show on the "N" word. Did i man up i politly told them that that word to some of other ethnic backgrounds including my own would find that very offensive. so they might want to check displayed or previous names. then I saw, when they got it to, i think that made it all balanced. Funny how a little tenderness goes alone way. I believe in the term unite. how do things unite, what happens when they unite how does it alter one's life into a shared space with new ora's ways. By the time those blue eyes came out of the room with her perfect fit tiny tiny cat kitten. There were survivor moments they were all hero moments. Dr.phil says to find a hero in a situation and you can create your own good day. Funny thing I'm more the parent and they are like calvin and hobbes to a tee. both sneaking behind a wall and scare me. it's like watching the life of my heart regain her strength, life, and soul back. and yes, lil' bear has a jersey. that says stud its awesome. so although we have ungone many changes we are now complete with lil'bear. we adopted her. she sits and waits by the door, crouches and just when she walks in lil'bear attacks her feet. i got no jealousy here. I know animals help health people and these two definatly have touched our lives as if they we're our own kids. i guess the reason i'm writting this is because as i said i like to know behind information and being it was lil'Bear's first year with us. i decided to find out about tortoiseshell calico. and everything i have read makes so much sense, there is no other cat like a calico. my wife is part native and finding out what her last name ment was awesome it showed the history and story of her last name and it fit her so true. workers of the land, that is her she a worker. so i did a search for lil'bear and found her name is clouded tiger from native america and her markings are that of a tiger. weird, no interesting i see mmore evidence of this bond these two have. mY girl loves with a passion tigers, lives, and breathes tigers. We gave her a christian name of serentiy, cause that's what she is to us and lil bear because in one of her antics my baby thought she hung off the door knob like a little cubby bear. hence, lil'Bear. It's nice when God wakes you up with the kisses of the two girls i love the most and would give my life for.I am greatful no for the health issues i have to deal with but for the time I have had to really sit and think how i want my life. My baby and me we are exactly like ying and yang. We even confess to not being each others type but when you get hit by love. I never thought i would say this about another animal but i love that cat.

We have a tortie. Lucy. Friendly like our other cat. All except she hates being picked up. She plays without using her claws and likes to terrorize our Bengal-Tabby. They both get along pretty well but she likes her independence. She's very even tempered but I've yet to figure out why she demands attention both physically and verbally but will not let you pet her anywhere "above" her lower back. She plays with sticks, felt balls, and other typical toys. She also wanders around talking to "spirits." I've yet to figure that one out either. Sometimes she'll just set there and stare at me. I can talk to her and she won't move but if I "dance" with my feet a little she perks up like I'm another animal. She won't cuddle much but she must be in the room with us. We adopted her at 2 months because her personality was so kind. She's very cautious around guests but doesn't remain a stranger for long. She lets me trim her claws and doesn't complain much and like most other cats she loves to run around apparently for no reason. Like the addition before her we couldn't imagine life without her.

I had a ball reading those comments:) I have my tortoiseshell girl since 6 years. She is very lively and healthy cat. Although she's been a lite devil while a young kitten, and I as a nutritionist, i thought she's had some behavioral problems caused by the poor supermarket food, as she cried all the time, she virtually talked to me and my husband all the time, bite us when we left the bath wet, or attack our feet when it happened we stick them out of the bed in the night etc...When i changed her diet and got better quality food + daily spoil with wild meats, she improved a bit. She demanded A LOT of attention and if she didn't get it, she would just cry till the time you pay attention to her. She gone better with age. She likes to be outdoors for few hours a day, but that doesn't make her less restless and talkative. If it happens she can't get outside because of a rainy day- she gets nuts at home and cries in front of the window blaming the whole world for the rain:) I had several friends who sit in our house with her when we went away for holidays and all of them said our cat is crazy... no one would understand how it's possible a cat 'talks and cries' so much?:) On the positive side, she is he most affectionate cat I ever had in my life. She always sleeps with us / on us, especially when it's cold. She greats us every time we came home or wake up in the morning. She allows us to be hugged, picked up from the floor. She always assist us in the toilet and walks after us like a dog everywhere we go. Did I mention that she tries to have a conversations with us at the same time? Sooo adorable. She didn't cause much damage to my carper or sofas, but my plants and electrical cables suffered a lot... About 2, 5 months ago i decided to buy another cat and since then my Tortoiseshell big girl turn into the nieces thing under the sun. Now she gets all he attention from the new kitten that we often fail to give her due to lack of time. She ignored the title one for 3 weeks but since then their the best friends, playing, liking each other and sleeping together. My big girl stopped crying and seems to be the happiest cat in the whole world:) If I only new earlier that trick would make her so happy- i wouldn't waste so many years on having her lonely and difficult at times to get the massive amount attention she demands. Now i have two lovely girls who you just can't help but love to death.

My tortie cats name is Wicket and I often call her my best friend..and she is full of TORTITUDE! She definately prefers me over my husband, but will give anyone love and attention if they want it ( and sometimes even if they dont want it) She snuggles on my chest at night and softly purrs. She is always waiting for me when she hears me come home and loves to watch birds out the window. She loves to be pet, especially under her chin. She doesnt like to be picked up though. She will tolerate it for a few second and then break free so you can pet her while she's on the ground, under her own terms! I also have another cat (not tortie) and Wicket is very bossy of her. She also gets very jealous when the other cat is getting attention from me. She is very vocal and always resonds when I speak to her...sometimes I think she's too smart :)

I rescued a 6-7 week old calico about 14 mos. ago that had been abandoned where I work. She had been hiding in the shrubs crying so I found some milk and coaxed her out (others had said that she'd been there for a few days). The wife and daughter were away for three days when I brought her home to our four other cats, and two dogs. She is definitely my cat. She'll tolerate my wife (if she feeds her) but is terrified of my 15 y.o. daughter. She follows me everywhere, though does not like to be picked up. She will get on my lap in the evening while I'm watching TV, but would usually rather lay at my feet or under my chair. She seems to prefer spending time with the dogs. She disappears when someone not in the immediate family is here (actually, nobody other than my wife and daughter have ever even seen her). I've had cats all my life but, except for the one who could hold a full (open) can of beer on his head without spilling a drop, this one takes the cake.

I have a tortoise shell--and white cat named Patchy. She was the first born kitten of my other cat, Tigger and I instantly fell in love with her. My parents gave her to me on my birthday and she's been a Princess ever since. She is terrified of rain and thunderstorms, crouching ninja style to me and hiding under my legs or behind chairs. She definately has attitude; she frequently attacks and hisses at our dog and hates to be picked up and cuddled when I want to cuddle her, often squirming out of my arms, but when SHE wants attention, she wont leave you alone until you cave--and even then, she wont let you stop, often nudging you with her nose. She likes to sleep on my bed, rolling around on her back for tummy tickles and often hugs my hand and thumps with her back legs, nipping gently when I do so. She is a very naughty, spoiled cat, often preferring to sleep in places she's not allowed and follows me around the house, waiting for me outside the bathroom and racing me upstairs at night when she doesn't come through my bedroom window at 4am. She's very playful but doesn't like playing with toys, instead preferring to chase my other cat (her mother) around the house and jumping on people's feet and anything left on the floor. She's definately a typical Tortie characteristicly and I wouldn't trade her for the world, though physically, she looks more like a tortois than most tortie cats. Her colour is on her tail, back and top of the head, though she is more striking white on the bottom half of her body, appearing as though she is wearing a shell.

"Pizza, my tortie "
So, Pizza is my beloved six -year old tortie, adopted from the shelter when she was two. Her colors resemble, as you might have guessed, those of a pizza, yeah, at the pizza place. She is adorable, vocal, playful, smart (she knows how to slide doors and set traps for unsuspecting victims - that would be me and Big Boy) and she sleeps on top of my head.Never in a million years had I expected that she would make best friends with an oriental black tomcat I adopted from the shelter a year ago. Of course, first, 18 pounds Big Boy was greeted with a terrible hiss from a 9 pounder that made him piss in the carrier when he was brought home. As time went on, the calm tomcat became Pizza's butler. He is bathing her and plays with her, though I have never seen Pizza doing the same for him. Anyways, all of us sleep in a big pile just like in this movie "Where the wild things are".

"My cat Gibby (also a tortoseshell cat)"
She is like my best friend and follows me almost everywhere around the house and when i am down stairs she calls out for me to come up stairs. Also she does this "aggressive attack" on my leg and hugs it...i get freak out when she does it so i know when she is going to do it and i move out of the way lol. She talks a lot and doesn't like to be picked up but only by me and the food provider (my dad Tikki Boy). The vet said that Tortoiseshell Cats tend to be attached to one person and i am very glad that i am that person. She doesn't get along with my other cat Nacho (who is a himaleain and simesse mix...and sorry for the misspelling) and Chloee our German Shepard. She likes to get me up early in the morning on the weekends (cause she thinks i have school i think lol) and even very early on Halloween and Christmas (cause i think she knows those are important days). So no health issues and she does leave some fur but she is not one of those cats who have fluffy fur so... no matter what, those cats shed. Over all, they are WONDERFUL cats and attach themselves to 1-2 people but wont hate the others. • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 2 • Page 3 (Newest Replies) •
