Hello, I have a cat who recently gave birth to 3 kittens on 03-17-08. Up until last night she was fine in the spot she gave birth at. But now she is constantly moving her kittens and we cant have her doing that around the house. Any idea why she is doing this? Is there a way to make her more comfortable so she will stop?

While I don't know exactly 100% why she's doing this. Try moving her spot to one of the spots that she moves her kittens to and see if she stops?

It is what cats do. It is normal.

Cats are in the unusual spot of being both prey and predator. I would pretty much bet that all she is doing is trying to protect her young kittens. No harm in that. She eventually will get to a point where she feels comfortable letting the kittens move on her own. For the time being, all you can do is hope she's still using the litter box and you're feeding her kitten food. She needs that extra protein and fats from kitten food because of feeding.

my cat recently gave birth to 4 kittens on the 24th. i have bred cats for several years and the the reason your cat is doin this is because she feels her kittens may be in danger. try not to hav so many people visit the kittens so oten and try not to visit the kittens yourself but maybe! once a day. she feels threatened. but you are right she cant be moving the kittens around the house...it isnt safe. good luck.
