What is your favoriate name for a cat? How do you choice a name for a new cat?

The cat we have right now is named Oscar. The kids named him after Oscar the grouch on Sesame Street. Honestly, that's how most of our pets are named. The kids usually name them after a character on TV that they like.

My sister has 2 cats. I think she is the only one in the family that owns cats the rest of us have dogs. One cat is Coco and the other cat is Harley. I don't know how Coco got her name but I am assuming that Harley is named after Harley Davidson. She isn't into motorcycles so I don't know how that works out either. My daughter loves to go over there and see the cats. The first place she looks is under their bed. She calls the cats trying to find them. Too cute.

My friend has two cats - Kitters and Posh. Kitters is a male and Posh is a female. They're so adorable. They get along quite well too.

I had a cat named Bianca. My moms cats are name Figaro and Junior. They used to have an orange cat named Cheddar and a black cat named Bear. When I was a kid we had sister cats named Callie and Cassie.

We have three cats. 1). Is Peter the Great (hockey goalie) He is a huge male siamese. The name fits him. 2). Is Poncho. He is a soft light ginger color with white paws and tummy. My son thought this was a perfect name for him. 3). Is Lola. She is a calico, but her coloring is very soft. She is super sweet. We derived the name from Barry Manilow's Cocca Cobana song. They are all great kittys.

My cats are Chobi and Feliks.

Chobi is named after a character in a Japanese Anime. I don't know the exact meaning, I was told it was slang for "chubby" and I've been told it means "Final or Last." Whatever the meaning, it fits her.

My new little boy is Feliks. It is the Polish form of Felix. I figured since my first cat had a Japanese name, my new cat need to have a name from a different language. I decided on Feliks as tribute to my culture. Feliks means lucky, so he is my Lucky Polish Kitty. I wasn't sure about the name at first but he's quickly growing in to it.

I've always given them names that seem to suit them somehow. They just kind of come to me. Kahlua got her name because in the sunshine she had all dark, darker and darkest brown like a bottle of Kahlua held up in the sun. My Siamese was a Lynx point and her stripes were so subtle that she looked liked she'd been laying by the road and a truck had gone by. You know how when you sit and the dirt forms stripes you don't notice, and then you stand and you can see them. So she was named Dusty. I had an almost white male whose eyes were green instead of blue or gold and he loved cream. So I named him Bailey.

We have rescued cats. Dontay, he is a peppered long haired tabby, Shadows, he is all gray, and Atticus, he is sandy with patches of white on his chest area and white paws (all brothers) Momma Kat was left stranded with her three kittens and we took them all in. My daughter then brought home a kitten from her daddy's that was almost dead. (she was the runt) We brought her back to life and named her Misfits. My daughter is into punk bands. My sister found a kitten in the dumpster where she worked and brought it home to me. I thought it was a boy so I named him Oscar after Oscar the grouch....lives in the trash...but turns out Oscar was a girl. Her name is now Oscarina.

I am in the process of getting three cats after two that I had for 14 and 26 years died. I wanted a "cute" name for the 14 year old when he was young, so I called him Stimpy. The other was named Charlie, but I called him Bubbie most of the time. He was the best pet I ever had, The three cats we are getting are coming from the Humane Society and they already have names. We will keep the male's name of Jack probably. The two female's are calico cats and presently named Sophie and Sadie. One seems to go absolutely nuts over strings and ribbons, so we may rename her Ribbons. The other we may call Rainbow. We may rename them after we pick them up and after we consider it carefully.

I think the name of a cat should be determined by their personality and how you react to them. I had an orange cat I called Kitty Cat for four years because I couldn't think of a good name for him. He came home limping one day and a friend suggested that I call him "Chester" after the character in Gunsmoke that limped. That name stuck.

Finally, watever name you give a cat, you and other people in the house must like the name. We intend to change Sophie and Sadie's name. As cats don't always come when called, a name can be changed with new owners. The cats may react to the new owners differently, or the new owners may see the cat in a different light.

My grampa had a dairy farm 70 years ago and he had a cat he kept in the barn. He gave the cat cream from the cows all the time, which caused the cat to have a loose stool. He called the cat CRAPS. I like the name "Roadhouse" for a cat. My wife won't let me use either of those two names.

My cats names are Mook and Buddy. I took over a month to choose the name Mook and it really suits that cat (he's a big fat pain in the neck but I love him to death). Buddy is a name I chose on the day I brought that cat home. It is such a lame name but I've been calling his Buddy for about 7 years now. At about aged three I tried calling him by another name but I kept forgetting. In my opinion, take as long as you need to find a name that really suits your pet.

my friend had a cat born on Halloween named Spooky. that was the coolest thing ever

We had a foster kitten we named Nibbler and he earned that name so it was cute and funny.

Other than that its ok to get to know the animal first before you name it, like a week or so but the sooner you give it a name the better chance you'll have of them responding to it :)

My beloved cat BULLET has just passed away. He was 12 years old. When he was a kitten, he ran so fast.. as fast as a speeding bullet!!.. that's how he got his name.

I named my Grey Tabby kitten Aurora from the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) because everytime I am down, or need comforting she's there with her sparkling eyes. It's so adorable! I love her to death. She's an amazing huntress, killing mice, birds and flies. Yes, she loves flies for some reason... haha.

i have had loads of cats for ages actually i have 5 lol(lough out loud) my fav is baliey he is a cuteeeee i clled him bliey beacause he is NOT ginger HE IS carermel

nomber 2 is called jerry beacuse when he was little he he used to be a big strong and VERY FUSSY cat

number 3

winnie beacause she is still a little kitten but she is nice and soft and tiny

number 4 is ellie i named her after me beacuse she always came to me for love and in need of love and she always folowed her and baliey once followed me to the shop

5 is dead :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( he died at the age of 80years old blesss

We used to have 4 cats but one died a little while ago(old age(around 17-in human yrs)). Her name was Toozers, i dont know how we really got that name but we had a cat before that named ozzers so i guess it just came from that. Right now we have 3-Simba(from lion king), Shelby(idk-just liked it), and oliver from the disney movie oliver and company, because they were both orange. Now we are getting aonther cat soon and we havnt decided on a name but coming up with names is always the hardest cuz youll have to stick with it their whole life.

I rescued a 3 year old female cats who was being called Buddy but I wasn't going to have that. My family and I couldn't think of a name right away and just called her Pretty Kitty because she is all white with one blue eye and one green eye....and PrettyKitty stuck. She loves her name and acts like a PrettyKitty....

we just got an orange kitten which my boyfriend named Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes and I'm currently looking for a name for the little female calico.... i had to share my story about PrettyKitty though.
