I just rescued a cat from a condo where the owners moved and left her (a**ho*es!!). She's a Tortie and actually let me place her in my cat carrier. She'd been living at the base of the stairs near the bushes & kept crying at me when I walked my dog & cat (she walks w/us, off leash). I brought the tortie to my condo yesterday and gave her some food but she didn't seem hungry (I found out they moved over a week ago!!!) I thought she'd be more hungry than she was. I initially tried to set her up on the patio, but she seems to be an indoor cat--went right in once my dog had left the room. Her abdomen is big and not only can you see her pink nipples but her back breasts(?) look full of milk. Today I made her a bed--stood a plastic moving/storage crate up on end where the opening is on the floor, a potty box from another smaller plastic crate. I set it up in my closet where it's fairly dark when the door is left ajar, and placed the food & water on the side w/the crate I made into a bed (it's a lrg walk in closet). But she's been under my bed most of today. Comes out a few times & rubs against me, eats a bite of crunchy munchy then goes back under my king bed. I have 1 other cat (spayed) and a Dobie (who actually brought the cat home)& he loves cats (he's neutered-a rescue). The only cat I remember giving birth was when I was 13, so I don't remember much (now 44), but seems like they don't eat much prior to giving birth. I hope I am doing the right thing by bringing her in, as she's been declawed both front & back. Please help and send any info you can. I don't want to do the wrong thing with her and her babies. Thank you in advance!!

"What colour is the mucus and where does it come out?"
My cat Ruby is pregnant. We think that she got pregnant around the 15th of August. She has the red stuff arounf her bottom, but we're not sure what this is. When you squeeze her nipples - Milk comes out. She has had about 4 litters of Kittens. The last lot of Kittens she had- She only had 2. Unfortunalely the both died.I really hope she has her Kittens soon. Maybe even on my birthday which is the 22nd of October! If anyone can help me- Please do so because I would like to determine when she is going to POP these little babies out!

"Signs"
Hi there allQuite a few people are asking for signs and getting no answers so i thought id help with a few Your female cat is pregnant for 9weeks (63-67 days, mainly being 65days) 2nd week into pregnacy, her nipples will begin to pink up and start to enlarge, and the fur around the nipples will start to disappear. As time goes by in the pregnancy her appetite will start to increase, so feed her enough but DO NOT OVERFEED as this can be bad for when she gives birth as kittens could be to big to pass through. She will start to feel more tired, so therefore sleep alot more, and rest alot more. If at any point she passes blood or mucus before the 9weeks, you need to contact your vet, as this will mainly mean she has just had a miscarriage. And it could also release toxins into her body. So a vet is the MUST. All cats are differnt, my oldest girl Lilly has had 3 litters before i got her spayed. Had a litter of 5, 4, 4. Her first litter, she was panting like mad, really restless, and look as if she is in so much pain. Her 2nd and 3rd litter she just basically, came into my lounge, looked at me as if to say follow, she took me into my closet, and laid there on her side just stroking her, and she popped them out like a vending machine!!!! My other cat Mya, had only had one litter, and that was 9 kittens! 9 kittens for her FIRST LITTER.!!!!. Only four survived thou, two where undeveloped, one was still born, and two died a couple hours old. The other four thou survived into big bulky healthy kittens!....She is now pregnant again to a Blue BSH catm and looks like its going to be another very large litter, so im all ready. Please only breed if you know what you are doing. So many cat deaths out there from people who dont know what they are doing and has killed their cat and their cats babies from this. Hope my information helped you guys

"How to tell birth is emminent"
Need to know if there is a sure way to tell when my cat is ready to give birth. The one and only previous litter she crawled on my stomach and I went to sleep watching tv and when I woke up there was 2 kittens in my lap. I have a comfortable, safe place ready, but have also heard that she will have them where she wants to.

"Often times there is a slight discharge that come from the area just before birt"
Often times there is a slight discharge that come from the area just before birth. However, the feline will often times lick it away once it comes out so you may not even notice it. Also, she will probably lick their abdomen and constantly and won'e be concerned with any food or play or people. Mainly, she will be concerned with finding "the right spot" to give birth. Early in the birthing process, you will notice her walking around from room to room; this means she is seeking out that spot. Just make sure you keep your doors closed anbd keep her inside so that she doesn't get out and have her kittens outside where you can't find them.If you keep a good eye on her, further into the labor, she will begin to breath at a faster rate, with her mouth open and may even sit akward. Her cervix will be dilating but you really won't be able to tell much. She may begin to make a howling noise, this shows she is feeling the contractions pretty good now and birth is approaching. At this point she will lay on her side and intermittently squat and press downward to expel the kittens. Just keep an eye on her, don't try to interupt the birthing process because if the mother feels her babies are threatened, she will try to move them half way through birth.

"My cat is due any day I think"
I am taking care of a foster cat for the Animal Assistance Group. She is pregnant and is due to have her kittens soon - I hear her pant from time to time, and her belly has dropped. She is very hungry all the time. She has chosen a corner that I lined with cardboard and she likes to paw at it tearing it up to make it more comfortable. I'm concerned becuase I need to leave town for Thursday eve and have asked a few friends to stay there in case she has them while I'm gone and needs help or anything. Will she be ok with strangers in the apartment?

"My cat, very different from every1 elses"
My cat called Marmalady had a litter of 4 kitten's a few month's ago, she has never been like any other cat i have ever known and when her time came to give birth she got into bed with my female golden retriever! I have lots of photo's as this was really lovely to whitness. For the next 9 weeks they both together looked after the kitten's. Out of the 4 that were born we kept 1 a ginger tom called Nugget who has the most wonderful bond still with my dog! • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 9 • Page 10 • Page 11 • Page 12 • Page 13 (Newest Replies) •
