2 Kittens Missing

2 of 4 kittens are missing since this afternoon. They are outside cats. The mother moved all 4 kittens once. She moved to a totally exposed area. A major storm was coming through. We placed a large box with towel on the patio for her and moved her kittens back with her. They all seemed comfortable. Would the mother cat move only 2 kittens? The mother and 2 kittens are in the box. We looked for the other kittens with no luck. There is a frost warning out for tonight, forecasting 30 degrees.

It is possible that the mother cat moved them and I cannot seem to offer an explanation to that.

We once had a cat that would insist on having some of her kittens at a secluded and often secret place and all efforts to return them bore no fruits.

It would be best to assume she has some attachment with those she is with now. Try looking for them meanwhile.

I agree with moy, are they stray cats before you had them? You see, the mother cat could have moved her kittens in a place that she thought would be much better. I do not know what to say i dont know more about cats, but you can always try searching them in your neighborhood. Or are you sure they've left? Maybe their just in the corner somewhere, search harder or better yet adopt a new one.

True rudy coz if they were, then chances are that they will tend to connect to their old self. Perhaps a rendition would be, 'you cannot teach an old cat new tricks.'

I would say that is a common traits in these animals. You do not have to burn your fingures in looking them up. They could be enjoying their time.

Let them have a taste of their own living conditions until they decide to return.

Like you already said that the animal was an outside "stray" cat to begin with. The cat may probably got back to its original home in the alley. If ever the cat stayed on your shelter, let's say a year or so then maybe (just maybe) it won't run off but since it did, I would think that it hasn't really settled down with you or your home yet. Probably it misses the pack (it's cat group in the alley)?

But if she have grew fund of these adorable pets then there is no stopping here in missing and looking for these cats. You know what its like to have something or someone that you loved the most then suddenly went missing. That is what kidslovekitten here is experiencing. Letting them go and not looking for them is easier said than done Anita. If you really missed them then by all means look for them.

I think it would be hard to look for them anymore. Cats have look alikes, and you might mistake one for your cat.

Know what? i think it would be best to just let go and if you want you can adopt a new cat or buy one instead and just name him with the same name you gave to that long lost cat.

That reminds me of the movie Bolt, where Bolt (the missing dog) had been replaced with a new dog which looks exactly like him. It is a nice film about love (not sexual), adventure and friendship.

There are lots of missing cats and kittens and who knows where they may be right now? Some owners manages to just buy or adopt another one. Come to think of it, somebody else might have as well adopted your missing cat, right?

It is sad that your pets are gone missing. Though there is a chance that you can still find your missing cats and kittens, it is so minimal.

And even if it is sad, the only thing that you can do is to adopt a new pet, just like what the others had suggested.

You can pi9ck a kitten that looks exactly like your lost pet, yes, but then again, it will only remind you of your lost pet.
