Any good suggestions? A tucan maybe? Comment #1 kelly (71.116.45.205) - this one had many kinds of species, and lots of information! Comment #2 Courtney (1) from The South - I would start with something small and easy like a canary and then move up to the big guys. The big ones are very expensive and high maintenance. My uncle has a big white bird with the yellow feathers on top, don't know what it is...but he has an entire room devoted to the bird. Comment #3 Jeanette from AZ - I agree with Courtney, start small like a canary. We had a canary as a child and my sisters cleaned the cage outside. Duh..you guessed it. The bird flew away!! It was pretty sad and my parents refused to get another one. Comment #4 citronkid from bird nation - If you never had one before I would get a parachet. You can always find one at a pet store for sale. They usually run around $20 sometimes for $10 during the holidays. Keep in mind that they do bite until they get used to you. Comment #5 Zory (75.13.69.222) - Parakeets can bite, but unlike the bigger birds, their bite almost never draws blood, and if it does, the wound is only the size of a dot. Comment #6 manny fresh (63.176.159.189) - What is a good bird to have around kids? • Page 1 (Original Post) •
