Birds - Birds Do you let your bird fly around? |

I see so many people that let their birds fly around their houses? Aren't they afraid of the bird getting out side? I can't tell you how many times I see a parakeet flying around in our neighborhood! What about the bird droppings? Ugh!

My citron is almost a year old and yes I do let it fly around the house. Actually he more or less walks since I have had his wings clipped. You prevent them from flying outside by keeping their wings clipped. As for droppings everywhere you can limit them to certain area and somewhere that is easy to clean. It is no worse than if you have a dog that isn't house trained or any other furry animal that runs around your house.

I let my parakeet fly around all the time. You don't have to get the wings clipped to keep it in, just keep the windows and doors closed. But beware, parakeet droppings are watery and may be hard to clean. Parakeets need to exercise their wings so the muscles in them remain strong.
