I live in West Texas and we have Blue Jays, Cardinals, and Robins mostly. I love the birds outside. I have a birdfeeder and birdbath in my backyard. I have had a bird for a pet, but I felt bad having a bird cage. I feel like they should be free to fly. Comment #1 Lee from Montevideo, Uruguay - Lots of piegons... especially in the park next to our apartment. The little kids love to chase and feed them. At one apartment building nearby an old lady always feeds them so there are lots around there... yuck! Comment #2 Lucy from Hickville, USA - I am so bad an naming specific kinds of birds but I definitely know we have blue jays because they pick at my corn stalks that I have on my front porch for decoration for Halloween. We also have robins, cardinals, sparrows and a bunch of others. My neighbor is a huge bird buff and can name all kinds of them. He goes bird watching quite often and has all kinds of books. We put a bird feeder on our pourch right outside our kitchen window so my daughter can watch the birds eat. She also fills it when it is empty. The blue jays like to beat that thing up too. They get so big too. I swear one of them is just going to take the entire bird feeder off its hook and take it to its nest. Comment #3 Jeanette from AZ - I couldn't even tell you what kind of birds I see outside. There's so many different ones. The only one I know of is the hummingbird - because we have a feeder!! LOL. Comment #4 alain from Old Country - Once on a trip in South Africa, we saw storks migrating. An incredible sight. They circle in the hot air updraughts, so what you see is a slow motion spiral of hundreds of birds rising higher and higher as they fly in this fairly tight circle. Once they reach the altitude they want, they break out of the updraught and glide off. It's an amazing way of conserving energy to get to the height the need for distance gliding. We stopped the car and watched them. Something to remember :) • Page 1 (Original Post) •
