It seems to me that the veterinarians are really pushing the heartworm medication any more. I don't remember it being such a big deal in the past (and haven't mosquitos always been around?). Now they want you to appear once a month throughout the summer season for them to give you a heartworm pill for every dog. I don't know but it seems like maybe the drug industry is in control of just about everything. I just don't understand why all of a sudden there is such a great push for medications of every kind.

LOl your right. They do push it. I bet they make a percentage of the pills or something profitable off pushing them.

Yup mine are on it too. Because we keep ours on heartworm medicine all year around they only have to be tested every other year. We give them the heartworm medication ourselves and don't have to take them to the vet for it. If we didn't keep them on it all year we would have to test them every year. I live in the North East US and we still have mosquitos. It is crazy here with them right now. There was frost on my vehicle this mroning and we had mosquitos this afternoon. They drive me nuts.

I know this may sound a little out there, but what does hearworms have to do with mosquitos? I understand giving your dog the meds, but it should be every 6 months or even every year, but who knows. Can someone help me out a little more with the mosquitos thing?
